Is it too much to ask for a nail tech to clean up after herself?

For a while now i have been sharing a table( i also work from home and mobile) with another nail tech within a salon. We both work different days but im becoming rather annoyed.

I was running late for my client, something i make sure never ever happens, except this day i was 2 mins late.
After apologizing to my client, i ushered her through to the nail area which is in another room. To my horror, the other nail tech had just left filings, nail cuttings etc on the towel. It was almost as if she just got straight up afterwards and left. I was extremely embarrassed and told my client i will just get a fresh towel etc...

I called the other nail tech and asked her to please clean up after herself as it was quite embarrassing in front of my client, Not to mention health and safety regulations. She promised she would.

Well i went to work today and there was a huge pile of clippings and acrylic dust etc on the seat.

I am so tempted to save my dust and clippings for a month and leave them right in the middle of the desk..but im not that type of person.

Sorry, i just needed to vent my frustrations.

Can anyone suggest anything i should do?

If asking her to clean up after her self is not working, which by the way is not to much to ask, why not talk to the owner of the salon. I am sure if the owner saw the mess she was leaving she would say something. xxx

I would report her to the salon owner ..it's not to much to ask to clean up after oneself and leave the area as you would wish to find it (clean that is)...thing is your client saw it & that's not a good thing i know it wasn't your fault but it doesn't give a good impression for the salon & won't look to good if HSE visit.

I have a messy girl in my salon and she's learning! She came from a salon who never cleaned and sat in dust all day so she knows no better. Its a hard 1 as your ships in the night but maybe typing up what needs to be cleaned and where things need to be stored, say that you have rearranged the desk and your leaving a note on where to find things. Top drawer files, middle product, bottom spares.
Invest in the new cleaning products Mundo and say at end of day all implements must be left in solution the towel must be changed and left on the seat as the table needs to be sprayed with hard surface cleaner and left overnight. Have a pop up towel bin so she has no choice but to use it.
Who cleans the floor? may I ask as if she's leaving dirty table she must be leaving dirty floor.............If it goes on the owner will have to step in

I can imagine your frustration.
The best thing to do would be to have a word with the owner/manager. For reasons you have said, it is not good practice to leave a work station in a mess and if a health and safety officer was to pay a visit it would not be a good enough reason to say 'the previous tech left it like that'
Im sure the manager will understand your concerns especially if they run a professional and safe workplace.

Let us know how you get on;)

You asked her the 1st time, and she did it again??? Id of gone straight to the owner, before she trys to make a habit of it
as mentioned what about if a h&s officer came in,and not good for clients to see, maybe your client was ok about it, but I bet in her mind she was thinking OMG, I know I would be:) get her sorted !!
