Hi geeks, im fairly new to nails, i did my training with star nails and passed back in october 2007, since then i have been doing nails mobile. The thing is ive had a local salon contact me today asking me if i would be interested in working with them 1 or 2 days a week on a 70/30 basis. I can use their products and they dont mind how long i take to do a full set, at the moment i take 1 1/2 hours. They use nsi products but i am not trained in nsi so i just want some advice as to if i should go for this. Thankyou in advance:lol:.

I've not used star nails products so I don't know if the ratio is the same as NSI's or not, personaly I wouldn't use NSI's products without a conversion day, this is because I got one of their try me kits when they were launching the Attraction range, used it, thought it was good, then booked a conversion day and OMG the difference in the quality of my work once I understood the correct way to work with their product was amazing.
If the salon is willing to train you, or pay for you to do some training then I would go for it. Experience working in a salon is always worth while.

70/30 is a good deal, provided the 30% is their take not yours!

It would be great if you could have some training with NSI first, before using the products as they may perform differently to what you currently use.

I wouldn't rely on the salon to give you training....you'll be self employed and most of the time salons are just interested in getting their cut.....which I, persoanlly don't agree with as it's the salon's reputation at stake.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Nothing ventured nothing gained.
Why not give it a trial period?

Hi Susie, thankyou for the reply, what you have said is what already has crossed my mind, i wouldn't want to try and use nsi products without having any training first, i am going to have a chat with the salon owner this week and i will be asking about training.

I say go for it, you don't know until you try

do a 3 month trial maybe, get some nsi training, a 70/30 spilt is good and if you are only doing 2 days a week you can still do you mobile clients

let us know how you get on
