Hi All

I am new to popits and have recently followed a tutorial by Geeg on using them with gel. I know that I will have to master and practice this technique so I am not particularly bothered at the moment with some of the mistakes that I am making.

However, I have been testing the popits on myself and I have flat nail beds some of which slope to one side. When placing the popit on the nail I ensure that it fits snuggly at the cuticle and side walls but there is a big gap in the middle between my (flat) nail and the (curved) popit. I have tried placing more product in the centre of the popit but this results in a thick looking nail. I then tried less product in the centre of the popit and pressed down to close the gap but noticed most of gel was seeping out of the sides. I then tried a larger popit and reduced the sidewalls to fit but the gap was still there.

I have noticed the same when I have sculptured gel nails. I can never get a snug fit (whatever I try) between my flat, sloping, wonkey nails and the form as there is always a gap. I also have to use a lot of product to produce a nice 'c' curve (which also leaks into the gap) and I then have to file and re-shape substantially to achieve a thin looking nail.

Please help I want a nice thin looking sculptured gel nail using a popit without the additional filing.

Well ... PopIts are PopIts and they are the shape they are. They should give your nails a lovely shape and improve the look of them enormously but of course this will mean they are thicker to make up for the c curve you lack. This doesn't mean they have to look thick as long as you make sure the free edge is thin.

Thanks Gigi

It must be me not making the free edge thin enough. I'll give it another go tonight and perhaps make the nail slightly longer and the free edge thiner as I do tend to do them fairly short on myself.
