Hi everyone. I have just started playing with Popits and absolutely love them. I have read everything there is to read on this site about them and have found it really helpful. The only problem i'm having is that they are coming out really thin on the free edge. I have tried it with a larger bead and also not pressing down as hard but am still ending up with an extremely thin edge. Maybe its because I'm used to a thicker edge after struggling to sculpt a nice thin white tip but to me it seems TOO thin. Also have tried different timing for pressing them down, but sometimes after I let go from pressing them down, immediately bubbles form. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Well one thing is for certain, if you press down less firmly you WILL get a thicker free edge .. this is really a very simple solution. In any case, a thin free edge does not equal a weak free edge. There is plenty of strength in PopIts. Why not wait and see how your clients go on with them before worrying about the fact that the free edge is thin. Thin is good. I certainly wear mine thin.

To your last question, you are not supposed to let go immediately ... keep your thumb rocking back and forth on the PopIt for at least 10 - 15 seconds before letting go so that the product can begin to set. Once the product begins to set, you are home free and can move on to the next nail.

I do keep my thumb on them as recommende (i've watched LOADS of videos on it!) and have tries different timings, from 15-20 secs right up to 40 secs which seems to work better. Maybe my mix is too wet?

Maybe! I only hold on to the PopIt for 10-15 seconds and that is it.

Another reason your PopIt may spring up is that you have not put enough product into the form.

I did my first application of PopIts on myself last night, I wanted to try out my new ultra sculptor brush as well. I think both are fabulous. I have noticed though that there are a few really tiny bubbles. I'm assuming this is because I did not press down enough or that I didn't pat the L+P onto the PopIt firmly enough.

It's because you did not pause long enough before applying the PopIt.

If you work too fast, you will trap the O2 that is generated by the chemical reaction in the PopIt. It is for this same reason we pause before pressing a normal bead into place.

That makes sense, I did apply them rather quickly to the nail. I must have missed reading that bit in your tutorial. I am going to do the training soon with Kelly (both PopIts and Brisa Toes) but I thought I would give it a go as I thought its the easiest way to apply nails to yourself and I wanted some nice new enhancements. I'm rubbish at doing my right hand!

Have tried as Geeg suggested and let the product sit for a moment and it HAS made a difference. Also, got fed up with the air bubbles appearing on my own nails so I did 2 on my (long suffering) husband and they came out brilliantly! I was so pleased with them, I then did a full set on my mum and thet also came out really well! So happy now. I am assuming they were full of bubbles on my own nails because I wasn't getting the correct pressure on them or the angle I was at was wrong when applying the Popits (if that makes sense.) So I would say to anyone having problems with doing their own nails with Popits is to have a go on someone elses nails to see if it makes things any better for you. Good luck.

No it doesn't make any sense :green:

The reason you were getting bubbles (tiny ones) is what I stated above ... applied too quickly before the product was ready.

A Large bubble is caused by too little product and too much pressure being applied.
