I bought a skin shaver for my feet, and the blades also. Now it doesn't seem to do anything, so maybe i've put it in wrong??? Can anybody help me please lol. We werent taught this on our course as they didn't agree with it, but i would like to use it myself !!

Also, could anybody tell me a good place to actually buy all the nail stuff? I'm using EZBOND at the moment which is fairly expensive. I love it but i'm wondering whether there are different brands that work just as well?

Thanks alot peeps,
Claire :D

I cant comment on the skin shaver, as i wouldnt want you to have an accident on my advice, but i will say it SHOULD only take off any dead skin, maybe youre trying to remove healthy skin, if so, keep trying, and you will suceed, ouch!!
as for the products, all i can say is buy cheap, you buy twice, search through the forum, and you will see that almost every1 is a CND fan, theres gotta be a reason for that?

good luck, and please be careful with that skin shaver : )

Thanks Kate, so is CND better than ezbond?

Hi Pagesmum

welcome to Salon geek firstly.

Have a look at CND - Creative Nail Design, Professional Nail, Hand and Foot Beauty Products - Artificial Acrylic Nails and Brisa Gel. - Creative is the world leading professional nail company and wins many awards for it's outstanding leading edge scientific products, stunning retail and world acclaimed training programs. It is one of the more expensive companys, but like all good things you get what you pay for....

As for your callus blade - please do not use it....

Callus's are a natural defense for the foot when it is being put under pressure and stress, 'cutting' this barrier off can be dangerous if you actually cut through the skin too deeply (and can lead to dangerous infections)
Not only that, but the body will react badly - it will assume the damage has become worse and defend itself more by building a faster, thicker layer...

The key with callus is 'smooth, don't remove'

By smoothing it down over a number of sessions the body will be far less likely to 'defend' itself aggresively

hope that helps

Thanks for the info Envy, i will look into CND and also avoid the skin remover

No worries,

as you will find, CND educators are always here to help ;)

i have seen my friend having this usedin the local nss and the results are really good, i did wonder if it wouldcause the body to overcompensate though.
is it really a huge nono? surely if you only remove the dead skin the body wont know?!
i was about to post asking if anyone knew of a course that included these rasps!iv been asked by a friend if i could use one on her but i refused until i am trained.

as to the question, have you got the blade in right?

In answer to how bad blades are...

In most countrys it is illeagel to use them professionally....

And yes the body WILL know if skin is removed... try cutting yourself shaving and tell me if you body doesn't react.... on a cellular level this happens even if you are only removing the very topmost epidermis....

"Smooth, don't remove"

The results will be far better in the long run ;)

I would check to see if the blades are even legal to use in your area. Those things do nothing good for you. It's one thing to do on yourself, but doing it on your friend sounds like a baaad idea.

Your skin may look nice, but the hard skin is just gonna grow back more thick and uglier. I would stick to using callus sponges with cuticle softener, and a daily dose of solar oil.

Your body has "made" the callous (for want of a better description) to protect you! so why would you want to remove it you should as Envy says only smooth it out. HTH
