Posting auction site links

We seem to go through spates of auction site links (ie Ebay and other similar sites) being posted on Salon Geek.

The moderator team has decided that from now on, for a number of reasons, auction site links are to be kept out of threads/posts.

Posting an auction site link means that it gets picked up by website search engine crawlers so by having the links posted in threads it’s actually giving more exposure to the seller which in turn means it’s no different to advertising.

We also have to remember a more serious side to using auction sites to obtain professional products.
Q - How do we know that we’re getting the real deal and buying legitimate, legal products?
A – We don’t!

It’s ALWAYS better to go via the correct channels when buying products, that way you know you’re getting the real thing, you know that the correct taxes/customs charges have been paid and you know that you’re not going to be duped with fake products.

Check out the article Sam wrote about auction sites: Auctioning your values

As we are a site for Salon Professionals it isn’t ethical for us to be encouraging the buying and selling of professional products to untrained people.

No worries if you have... it's not meant as a 'dig' at anyone in particular (otherwise it would have been a pm :wink2:).

It's a general observation and something that needed mentioning for future reference

your right in what your saying...that showing the links..... is advertising the people we dont want to be advertised...very good points raised by the MODS...well done xxxxxxxxxxxx:hug:

I bet all you mods will be busy removing all these links for a while.

Well done though - shame we didnt think of this a while ago.

Totally agree, didnt think of it like that.Well thought of xx

I've deleted quite a few auction site links over the past few days and feel that this thread needs a mahoosive...

BUMP

:wink2:

Did not know that it was not allowed. Never saw this post before. Thought it could help you increase your money in your service buy offering something unique and different. I understand the whole don't buy your professional product thing, like our liquid and powder, etc.

The clay cane sites that I listed are hand made not machine made. You will not find them in a professional beauty supply store. On the another note a non-professional will not be able to use them for nail art because they have to be placed underneath of your acrylic and gel. They are still professional product made just for us by professional artist.

Time for another bump :green:

Please note the last line re not recommending the buying/selling of items via auction sites, you all know the 'one' I mean! :wink2:
