Hiya Everyone

Ive just booked my scultpting course with NSI and i was looking for a soft hand to help me practise but im not sure if im looking at the right type.

I have seen one for sale in the salonserve catalogue which has a table attachment but im not sure if it is suitable for sculpting as it says that you can insert nail tips?

I have seen one on ebay with the similar fittings at the end of the fingers and i was wondering if anyone could have a look at the link below and let me know if you can use these kind of practise hands for sculpting?

Thanks x

Can you perhaps loan a trainer hand from your course provider? I have the Essential nails hand here and it is amazing compared to the one similar to you link ( I am not trained yet but do play on this lol )

Zone 3 on that hand looks very deep from the pic - would that make a difference to the technique you use to get that zone flush when sculpting hun? :)

Thanks for replying, i think zone 3 looks so deep because thats where your nail tip is suppose to be inserted but im not too sure.

Does your nail trainer already have nails on which you can sculpt? I think i might be better off givig NSI a call as i dont want to buy the wrong thing.

I just cant see where you would place the nail form in order to practise sculpting x

On the one in the link, you would have to apply a tip and then use that to act as a "natural nail " which you could apply your form to I would guess?

My nail trainer has nails that you can buy from Essential - they come in different sizes in the pack and you have ones that mimic flat nail beds etc also which helps you to learn that not all nails naturally have the same shape.

I know on the CND courses, you can hire the hands for the course but so many Geeks way how invaluable they have found thier Essential hands that I snapped mine up as soon as the chance arose :)

Ahhh right so do you actually buy the 'nails' seperate and insert them into the trainer?

Yes hun - it is a little plastic nail that has a slight groove to mimic zone 3 and it i slightly adjustable when you put it onto the training hand ( to give a slight free edge or none at all )

Here is the link to Essential nails' website so you can have a read....

Oooh that looks perfect!! i think i may have to invest in one of those, thankyou so much for your help!!

You are very welcome hun xx good luck with your course xx

For practising sculpting a trainer hand is not a great solution. The forms are too easy to put under the nails as you can just put it under as far as you like.
The nails are to flat too, so the important practice of fitting the form to the c-curve is not good either.
That said I have a trainer hand and used it a lot in the beginning for practising smile lines, apex, mix ratio, filing and such. But if you know how to do all of that, I would say save the money and practice on real people instead...
