Pregnancy and nails!

Hi all,

I haven't posted in a while, but I am a qualified nail tech though I haven't been working as a tech since November... I found out in December I was pregnant which wasn't planned but not unwanted. I am no 5months pregnant but I haven't done a single nail treatment on a client since findig out I was pregnant.

Does anyone know how safe it is for me to continue in pregnancy?

I use Shellac, NSI acrylic/monomer and basic Skin Truth mani/pedi packs. I am going to take a naila rt course in June and as far as I know there is nothing I need to worry about regarding the course but is there any reason nail enhancements would be bad for myself or the baby?

Also, as I haven't worked in a salon since just before I fell pregnant...I was hoping to set up mobile. Does anybody have any good recommendations for mobile nail desks or for insurance? Also doy ou set a price for distance travelled?

I know this stuff has been discussed before but it looks like I'm going to need to go and try and get a bank loan or something to fund a kick start to do the mobile as we have spent so much on a baby. I really don't want my two years of beauty training to fall by the wayside, but trying to get another job now while I am pregnant isn't going to be a successful venture...

Any help or advice would be fantastic.

congratulations when i was pregnant i was just careful with l&p because of the fumes, i wore a mask whilst applying it but shellac should be fine

When I was pregnant with my daughter I carried on working as normal. She and I turned out just fine.:biggrin:

I considered wearing a mask, I just didn't know if it was necessary!

I've never done nail art before. I've seen girls with glitter tips etc and didn't realise you could mix fine glitters with the acrylic powder...don't spose you know the mix ratio? lol.

Congratulations 😄 I did all l&p and full beauty work whilst pregnant with my wee boy and he perfect. Granted he used to tell friends and family he wanted to wax them lol x

I must admit I never did wear a mask as I didn't do nails all day everyday when I was pregnant, cause I was carrying out other beauty treatments aswell. Mix ratio is 1 part glitter to 2 parts powder. I use the spoon end of a double ended pushie to measure the amount..:biggrin:

Hi, hope you dont mind me jumping on this post! I have been trying to find some info on wether its dangerous to do nails whilst pregnant. I'm 10 weeks pregnant and work mobile. I use backscratchers extreme system which is fairly fumeless. Could I be cheeky and ask for the PDF geeg? X
