When I was training for enhancements(with creative products) I was taught to remove cuticle then have the client wash their hands with water or use a spray bottle of water to remove the cuticle remover. It was drummed into my head to never let them use soap at this stage, plain water only. We were told that using soap at this stage could cause lifting.

That's how I was taught, and thats what I do.

I was reading Sam's tutorial on PREP yesterday and he says to use a spray bottle of water with a drop of citrusoak in it at this stage. Now I'm very confused. Of course, I'm not saying I think the tutorial is wrong, but my teacher is a creative educator herself, I also trust her.

So, what does everyone else do at this stage? What were you taught and why? Also, has anyone else ever been given conflicting information (nails related) by two people whose opinions you both trust, and what did you do?

After i have used the cuticle remover i take my client over to the wash basin and scrub with Palmoliveanti-bacterial hand wash and a softish baby brush (don't worry, its easily disinfectable!) then rinse off thoroughly.
Since washing the cuticle remover off in this fashion i have not had any problems with lifting :D

Always remove cnd cuticle remover with water and citrusoak to esure all traces are removed and promote proper adhesion hth's

Ps i am not saying your educator is wrong, things change, maybe they even vary from country to country,i dunno, but this is the way CND teach here and now :D x

I was originally taught to wash the hands afterwards, but as I've done more courses, I've seen everyone using a spray bottle with water and citrus soak.

A much more convenient way of doing it.

Plus, that spray bottle gets used for everything in my salon!

You have not been given conflicting information, you have been given added information and nothing has changed. Water works just great for removing Cuticle Away (formerly known as Cuticle Remover). But CND also teach that to add a tiny bit of CND Citrusoak (from the Spa Manicure Range) to the water does add a lovely fresh citrusy scent to the water as an added little feature. Citrusoak is not soap and is CND approved to use.

There is no need for anti bacterial soaps as Cool Blue does that job for you before you and your client touch each other. No need to break way from your desk either as a small soft towel and the citrusy water spray can be used right there at your table. All these things save time without sacrificing quality service.

If you use a spray bottle, is it just a light spray or do you have to really wet the nails then dry with a towel?

I didn't have a spray bottle so have been using water with citrusoak in a normal bottle then sprinkled onto a lint free cloth to give the nails a good scrub. I don't seem to be getting a lot of lifting problems, but would using a spray bottle be better?

That would be the key bit of info I was missing. I thought Citrusoak was soap, so you can understand my confusion.

I have been using plain water in a spray bottle without any problems, I was just really curious about what everyone else did.

Thanks everyone!

Either method works. If it's working for you then it works. :)
