Rightio, here goes.

I'm currently trying to sort everything out for going mobile and want to start working my way through my price list ready to get it designed and printed. Logo is all sorted so it's now on to the next step!

At the minute, I am offering manicures and pedicures. Had been thinking about fibreglass/silk natural nail overlays but I seem to be having a bit of mosaicing problem with them. (see previous post)

I had thought about offering Shellac but as I'm unemployed it is a great expense and will have to use my savings if I'm going to get it (when it's in stock) but I can really see why it is so great - just hope any clients I get will see it too!

At the minute I'm thinking of offering:

  • File & Polish (for both fingers and toes)
  • Mini Manicure/Pedicure (cuticles, soak, massage etc)
  • Luxury Manicure/Pedicure (cuticles, soak, massage, exfoliation)
Also thinking about the CND Spa Manicure and Pedicure too. Not sure though.

Do you think I should offer Shellac? No clients as yet so obviously a lot of money to spend out. If so do I advertise it on my website/price list even though it's not yet available?

Is there anything else I could include? No prices as yet as I'm still working out treatments and I'm just ending up confusing myself! :grr:

Any and all help is much appreciated.

Like you say, as you dont have the free funds for Shellac at the moment, its important to start getting some clients in as soon as possible.

As your treatment menu is smaller at the moment be sure to advertise your manis and pedis in detail, describing the benefits and the parts of the treatments well.

Shellac has been very very successful for some but I am still overrun with demand for Minx and that is always a great thing to add to a treatment menu. I have many clients who never have a mani or pedi, just minx.

The only thing I can say is try and get your name out there as much as possible to get some cash coming in that you can invest in other products.

So is advertising for just manicures and pedicures an ok treatment list? I don't have heated booties or paraffin wax at the minute due to lack of funds and I obviously want to start asap once I sort my insurance out, but want to offer something people will come for.

What about Minx, should I offer this?

Is it worth getting a price list designed for now and then going back and getting a second one sorted?

Argh. Decisions, decisions. And I'm no good with them!!

Personally I would get a leaflet or smaller list done now so you can advertise, and go for the full price list printing when you are offering more services.

Minx is something that certainly has a huge demand but like anything it takes a bit of practice and you will need to buy a small infra red lamp and some minx designs.

It really depends how quickly you want money coming in. If you can wait the its definitely worth offering minx and shellac and getting a full pricelist. If it cant then start with what you have and introduce other treatments as you add them.

Thanks Skymark. I will have to look at my finances and see where to go from there. I want to get in as many clients as possible with a variety of treatments. Fingers crossed!
