problem with mixing glitter

hi
i have bought some of the mosaic coloured acrylic and i bought the glitter to mix with it....i tried doing a set they looked fine untill.......i smoothed them over with the koala buffer the purple glitter in the acrylic went silver!!!!!! like i had scratched all the colour off the glitter, did i buff them too hard? i tried doing it gently and it did the same am i missing something here???
any help would be good thanks for reading this hope it made sense to someone!

When using glitters you need to put a layer of clear or pink over the top so that you are not filing into the glitter.
