This has been bugging me for ages, I don't know why I haven't asked before tbh,

Ok I know that we know our ratio's of different products from watching on our courses,
..
BUT....

I don't understand what it means, when someone says to me or I read for instance...
1part monomer to 2 parts powder.....1part monomer- 1 part powder etc...

I understand it obviously means either, dry, medium or wet etc...

But how do you measure like 1 part liquid, and know that you are picking up 1 part powder

Its baffling me, and its annoying me, and I am expecting someone to come back with a reeeeealllly simple explanation that makes me look like a wally lol...
But I wont know if I don't ask

I am going to make it my new mission to start asking more questions lol,
I must have loads to still learn...anybody care to join me ???
:green:

Actually, Emma, the whole mix ratio thing 1x1 or 1.5x1 is utterly meaningless. No one can count every particle of powder or every molecule of liquid so it means precisely nothing to anyone in terms of helping one to get it right.

Your bead is either wet, medium or dry just as you say. Makes far more sense. Even more important is having the ability to recognise by the look and the feel when the product you are using is RIGHT.

oooo I wish I didn't have to go, I could carry on posting questions while your here lol...

Ahhh so at least I know Im not going mad then not being able to understand it,
I was just reading through some instructions and it didnt make sense, but I figured it must be quite important lol,

I will stick with my
wet
medium
dry and
ooops it fell of the brush and in to my powder..now my pot is ruined ! technique :green:

Hi ,
Im just interested to know in what circumstances or when would you work dry, or just this depend on what product your using?

i would work a little drier if sculpting say a corner of a nail which had broken off

kx

Hi ,

different room climates would alter your ratio as well, like when its warmer you would use a slightly wetter bead and cooler a drier one.

Pick up your bead and wait for 2 or 3 seconds.....

if bead looks powdery, it is too dry...

if bead looks glassy/clear, it is too wet...

if bead looks opaque and dimpled (like orange peel), it is just right:)

just like my rear end...all dimpled.....thats how i remeber what my bead is like....:lol::lol:
i actually work out my ratio now from how many times i gently tap the side of my brush on the way out of my dampen dish (i have the ezflow one so its nice and deep )...iykwim

Thankyou hun, But I understand having the correct ratio for the working conditions,
I just didnt understand how you would measure say
1 part liquid, 1 part powder and know that you have those exact parts
correct...

It was just that "parts" thing I had a problem with,
I used to sit thinking "well how the hell do I know I have 1 part in my brush and then pick up the same amount of powder iykwim, :green:

Gigi has explained perfectly, Its more or less impossible to tell, so I will carry on as thinking 1 x 1 = medium 1 x 2 = wet ...etc...
Makes sense to me that way lol

My title of the thread has been changed so now it looks like I don't understand ratio's at all lol,
I can see why it was changed as my problem may not have been made clear to others...
