Hello,

I was wondering is it ok to have different brands of product. Most of my products are from sallys, but I have two gel kits (one come with the lamp) well one of them is from sallys and one is made by Rio so is it ok to use my sally products under the Rio UV Lamp. I know this must seem like a silly question but the course I attended did not explain this. I am starting a Home Learning Course so hopefully I will not have to bore you all, with my question soon LOL. :)

I wouldn't recommend you use the Rio lamp at all Hun,
It is not a professional product....nor is it designed to work with the products you will be using,
I wouldn't risk it ..

At the beginning of my course, when I knew no better I needed a lamp just to cure permagloss, my friend gave me a rio lamp...It wouldn't even cure the permagloss,,
It went straight in the bin..and I gave the permagloss kit to another nail tech friend

I think you will find you get the same reply from all of the professionals on here Hun.
Totally a NO.

Sorry forgot to mention, it is also STRONGLY recommended you do NOT mix products either...
This can lead to product breakdown, and adverse reactions with your clients...again, totally not worth the risk .

I noticed on your profile you say you can't find a course lasting more than 2 days, so are doing a home learn..
Have you looked into Creative or Ezflow courses ?
These do foundation courses for beginners..lasting a number of days, usually spread out over a few months etc...
I am not sure of the exact details of either of these courses,
But there is lots of information on here regarding them both...
I can however be SURE you will receive the BEST training there is with these courses...

I can't see really how home learn could benefit you, you seem VERY enthusiastic...I think some hands on training is what you really need hunny

Emmsy is right, ditch the Rio lamp and kit now - it's rubbish. If you're working with gel you need the lamp that goes with your products to ensure optimum cure......

I hope your home learn course clarifies things for you, but I think you would benefit from some decent classroom training.......

Thank you so much for this, I used the lamp once when I done my mums nails and it was just a sticky mess I did wonder if the lamp was good enough, I think I will ask for gift vouchers for xmas rather then anything nails.

Thanks

well meaning reletives - we have all been there hun, and mums and aunties can only buy what they think is right - at least they care! dont be disheartened and keep going! xx
