Hi everyone, just wondering...is it possible to become a professional waxer as in you just concentrate on waxing as your job. I love it so much, at college I enjoyed it more then anyone else, all the girls seemed to hate it. Aswell as waxing I love doing facials and massage as I find it relaxing to myself aswell as my client. But where was I...so yeah is it possible to be just a waxer????

Of course.............I have my own waxing studio and specialise in intimate waxing for men and women. Check out my site. xx

Short answer: yes (but it's hard work) :D

Places like Strip in Notting Hill and The Sugar Shop are good examples of this business model, and our very own Kimmi (The Brow Queen) runs a waxing studio in Essex. Over the years I've also moved more and more of my business over to hair removal, and although I also offer other treatments I would say that 90% of my trade comes from waxing.

I would suggest it's a good idea to have a 'back up' treatment to fall back on (your massage skills would be good here) and retail is still important to boost your income.

The thing with waxing is that lots of other salons and mobile therapists in your area are likely to be offering it relatively cheaply alongside other services, and many clients like this convenience of a one-stop shopping experience. To succeed and actually make a living from it, you will therefore need to think how you are going to set yourself apart from this competition.

But... it can be done!

I looked at your website before I posted on here and thought how good it would be to get alot more experience in waxing. Thanks for everyone's advice!

In the meantime, post any questions on here as there's several serious waxers on or feel free to email or PM anytime and I'll help you however I can. xxx

There's loads I'd love to know but the list will go on and on lol. My current job will be ending in March and so this will be the perfect opportunity to start building a career to becoming a professional waxer. I want to look for a job working in a Beauty Salon to gain even more experience in waxing but as I am only qualified in Level 2 no one will take me on I'm assuming. What do you think I should do if you have any ideas?

If you want to a be a pro waxer then get yourself into a salon and wax wax wax. Then, once you're sure that you want to specialise in waxing, get yourself on a course with an expert..........not a college as you've done that already. You need to learn how to wax in the real world and to wax every part of the bod.

Thank you Kim, your advice has been really helpful! I will start getting in touch with Beauty Salons in Newcastle where I live before I have to leave my job. I will know to ask you for any advice in the future lol

Absolutely there's a market for waxing salons. In recent years we've had chains spring up in Australia devoted to waxing and there are several studios in my city which devote their services to men.

My first piece of advice is to stop assuming. If you assume that people won't take you then they won't. Sell yourself as a confident waxer and you'll be taken on.

The rest is up to you. Good luck :green:
