Hello all.
On many occassions I have came on and got advice etc..now I have joined and would love some advice please.
A few years ago I took a home course on waxing...never did I get eyebrows....in fact I attempted my daughters and ripped half off
Anyway the confidence wasn't there, and a day wasn't enough for me and I didn't really do anything with it.
Now I have got a college course, starting Feb for 14 weeks....The advice I am after is did anyone else find this problem? and will I get it after 14 weeks..I am slightly worried to be honest!!
I am also doing an Indian head massage..
Any advice experiences will be great
Thanks in advance
Mel

Hiya Mel,
Yes you will get the hang of it. It all takes time though so just practice, practice, practice.

When doing eyebrows, don't use the same wax strip twice and be careful when you press down as you are spreading the wax and you have to watch it. If you are nervous, why don't you put vaseline where you don't want the wax.

Ask your tutor anything and everything you want.

You will have no end of volunteers for your indian head course. Just enjoy, pay attention and practice.

Working within a salon initially also really helped me because there are things that therapists do in salon that are not covered during training.

Good luck xx

I am newly qualified in waxing, and was, still am nervous doing eyebrows as its so important to get right with it being such an obvious part of your clients face, I just take my time, and don't try to do a large area at a time, and not using the same strip on an eyebrow over again, as you would with legs as the wax just lifted can stick to hairs you don't want to remove, any hairs near to the brow can be tweezed afterwards, but your tutor will go over it all with you, and be there to guide you and answer any questions, as with most things practice makes perfect, good luck with your course x

we are just doing waxing on our beauty course dont mind legs but eyebrows scare me too! lol But will have to find some willing victims to practice on lol I have already done Indian head you will have loads of volunteers for that one

The thing with eyebrows is that you are not just removing hair like other places and the most part of doing them well is being able to look at them and almost see the shape in them that you want and suits the client before you have taken out any hair. This takes time and experience.

My view is that initially you shouldnt try to get a shape with wax so just remove with wax what obviously shouldnt be there ie that which is travelling down onto the lid and above on to the forehead and what is inbetween the eyes then continue with tweezers and because you are only removing one hair at a time you will be able to control the shape more and you wont feel so fearful you are going to mess up.

Working this way will build your confidence and you will eventually be able to use the wax to shape and then just do a quick tweezer at the end although if you never do it doesn't matter ,some therapists dont use wax at all on brows prefering to just tweezer, nothing wrong in that at all.
