The proms/formals are in late November here. In August I went to all the high schools and had a glossy A3 poster put up with my specials and packages.
The girls probably started calling/texting in early September but most of them started organising appointments in the last week of October - and I do think it's important to include a mobile number as most of the girls will make inquiries/appointments by text.
It's hard to know what packages to offer. In my first year of business I did quite a few prom makeups and 2 sets of nails, though I hadn't done any advertising.
The second year I did my posters and had lots of packages
- makeup and nails, nails & gel toes, nails and spray tan, most were save $10 off the regular price.
I also had a group special - if 3 or more friends booked for makeup they would save $5 each.
The result - I only did one makeup, most of the girls said they wouldn't be wearing makeup at all or just doing their own mascara & gloss.
The nails & tan package was a huge hit and a few asked to add a set of gel toes to that as well. Several girls just had nails done and nothing else.
This year will probably be totally different again, but I'll do the same posters with lots of packages and let them choose.
A few of the girls from last year are now working full time and get their nails done regularly as do the two from the year before, so it's worthwhile in the long run too
