Not an easy time to be starting a new business.

Your biggest promotion is your work and how it compares to others in your area. If it is outstanding then you will be noticed. If you just go in cheap to get clients by discounting ... it will not help you.

Get the word (and your business cards) out there to anyone and everyone who will listen; Put them everywhere where women go. It is cheap to do this .. it just takes your own efforts. You will get results and then after that it is up to you to deliver great nails.

brilliant thanks for your reply :)

Heres my .02 worth: I am also going mobile officially Jan 09.

First, I did my research. Very important to do this.

I went around to the nail bars in the malls here and the local beauty salons and got their service lists. I also went on the web and got the service list for the "posh" spa's in town. I did a service and price analysis. There are things that I will offer that are *not* available readily in my area, so those will be "premium". The rest that I am competing against, I did an average of the costs (based on service).

Once I did that I looked at my service list and did an analysis on what would most likely be utilised, by whom (demographics, see below) and when (seasonal - ie. summertime-forever french; wintertime spa manicure with intense moisturisation, etc).

I developed a promotional plan for each season depending on what the forecasted service numbers would be, as well as according to demographics (main age groups - I broke mine out as the 16-24 group, 24-45, 45-60+).

So, the easy answer (ha ha ha) is that I have a seperate promotional flyer I will hand out depending on where it is. ie. the retirement communities will get the mani and natural nail care emphasis flyer; the grocery store/market will get the summer emphasis flyer; and I'll have my teenager hand out the 16-24 emphasis flyer to his mates and people he knows. I'll keep track of all of it by having the person calling giving me the code at the bottom of each so I know where they got the flyer from and what group they are in. This way I can "upsell" to them when they call.

I'll let you know how it works out....although I have to be honest I have people wanting me to work on then now, because of the word of mouth from my friends telling their friends about my plans, but I am holding off til I complete my EZ flow course next week.

Know your market!

email or pm me if you want, OK?

Nancy

i'm offering complimentary xmas nail art with all my luxury mani's, pedi's and nail enhancements throughout december. It has been helping me to get clients to book the luxury mani's and pedi's instead of my basic treatments x
