Still not great but i am getting better!!(she says squinting her eyes)

My finish is fantastic to say 6months ago they wern't even good enough to practice on a fake hand!

I'm not sure this is why some of them are looking very bulky at the sides but i think it may be because when i do the glitter tip i'm using too much.
My smile line's are awful and nail beds too short, i used glass tips to do these and i really havn't mastered blending yet so, i should of sculpted really! least my nail bed would of been slightly longer.

I think i've noticed most of negative areas but if anyone know's anymore or can give me any help with blending and keeping my product thin especially where you can see i seem to be bulking it up! (i can't seem to get my apex right without bulking my nail up)

Thanks.xx

I'm going to be in trouble again!! I've just realised how blurred the picture is.

I'm sorry :(

I used the flower thing, and turned flash off!
I'll work on my photo taking skills for my next set,

Someone give me an idea for my next set..you can all give me challenges and that'll make me practice a lot more :D

lolx

Well.....I can make out the outline of the nails, and I would say the index finger is the closest to the correct form. The other nails are too wide, near zone 1.

When your shaping the sidewalls of your nails, make sure you're looking at the core of the file. And keep your file straight.

I can't really speak about anything else.

I agree, not the best of photos is it.

the index finger is always the best because my middle and 4th nail flare out naturally think that's why i struggle a bit maybe.

thankyou for your comments xx

Agree with Jesse...
but have to say, good for you that you are critically looking at your work and see what you did or did not do. That's a good start for improving. Pictures are cruel :green: they often show us what we did not see while working. So making lots of pics and analyzing is also good teaching tool.

As for nails - it really shouldn't matter whether you're sculpting or tipping... in fact, it should be easier to tip at first, because you're building the nail over the base, iykwim, and not doing all dimensions of the nail. So that wideness in zone 1 can be prevented while bleding and shaping tips.
Read Gigi's tutorials... that helps a lot, and CND finnishing video also.

Secondly, if I may notice, on nailbeds that long (and a bit wide) I would make free edge a bit shorter... just try and whole nail can look more balanced.

But all in all, good work, good thinking :) keep up :)

Thank you :)
Well i think i find sculpting easier but only because i was only half shown how to blend a tip properly.

lol.

I had this problem when I first started using glitters-looking too bulky in zone 1.
It's good you used clear tips, but try and blend them as thin as you can. Then put a thin layer off glitter over the top, then clear l+P to encase. This way, you can refine your sidewalls without filing the glitter.

This is really a good methode-will follow it from now on.

thank you-and everybody here-for posting your experiences!

Yeh, that'swhat i usually do but i think im just putting too much glitter, i think my glitter and powder ratio is wrong.

I was told to use 25% glitter to 75% powder, but in reality I use about one third glitter, this makes the colour more intense. I always encase in clear anyway, so I don't suppose it really matters what ratio of glitter I use, you could even throw pure glitter down and encase in L+p but obviously that will be tricky!

ooh no i've tried that. really doesn't work!!LOL

I find if you ge the right ratio the smile line's more crisp!

When you put a tip on and blend it in....thin the tip down as much as you dare...the thinner the better (obviously you got to be careful that you dont go and file it totally off!).
Thats the first trick!

The second trick is to remember that when you are doing a glitter/colour free edge, colour fade or whatever that you are trying to create an 'effect'...you are not trying to build a nail with the glitters and colours but you just want to create an effect SO only use a very small amount..try to use a 'painting on' technique rather than a 'building' technique...that way your still leaving enough room to encase the whole thing with clear..build the structure of the nail (with clear) and still be able to file it all after to 'shape and define' without filing off your 'effect.'
