My Husband bought me a Brun epilation last xmas and I have used it a few times on my legs but I have some questions.

1. Everytime I use it on my legs I get a rash that can last hours, even though I apply SBC Cooling Gel afterwards and it says on the back its good for after epilation.

2. Is there any other creams/gels/lotions that I can use that is better?

3. Can I epilate my arms?

4. When I do epilate the hairs grow a lot quicker than 4 weeks. Is it because of the growing time of the hairs? When is best to epilate so I can leave it every 4 weeks?

Thank you

Hi,
Do you epilate after bathing ? as 20 mins after is usually recommended.
I have used this method for about 10 years & i still have the same machine, i remove hair from legs below knee and armpits  after a few times it became just uncomfortable rather than painfull (i'm not very hairy).
You can remove from arms and other body areas but a smaller wand type is recommended for the face or threading the face is better. Take another look at your instructions it may recommend you cleanse the area first, dry thoroughly then use. Also it could be the speed or firmness in which you are stroking the epilator along the leg against direction of growth and how many times you are going over the same area.
The hairs you remove must be brushed out after each use & you can sanitise the removable metal parts with surgical spirit (unplugged of coarse)

What do you mean "The hairs you remove must be brushed out after each use & you can sanitise the removable metal parts with surgical spirit (unplugged of coarse)"

No I dont do it after a bath, I exfoliate my legs first, dry thoroughly and then do it.

With instructions it doesnt say anything about having a bath first just clean the area making sure it is clean.

With my legs I find the hair grows in different direction especially where the bones are. Also if I go in one direction I find I dont get all the hairs so I kinda go backwards and forwards.

When you finish epilating, the machine must be cleaned each time with the brush which is usually provided for brushing out the hairs which have been removed. On most epilators the head is removable for cleaning purposes and they usually advise to clean with alcohol, you dont need to do this each time but it's a precaution against folliculitis. (I assumed the Braun was electrical ). You could try exfoliating the following day rather than just before as this may be making your skin sensitive.
Your hair growth rate will affect how often you need to epilate but with this method you can remove tiny hairs, i usually do mine once a week & i spend less than 5 mins on legs & armpits. I found the hairs grow back finer after a while and by doing it so often there are less hairs to remove in one go making it much less painful. If you're quiet hairy then you will always have hair just beneath the skin about to come through so 4 weeks is probably too long for your hair growth rate.
