Hi Guys, you're going to get sick of me.

I am 26 and have combination skin, oily around the t-zone and dry on the cheeks.

I bought Hive Moisture Light Cream designed for Normal/Oily skin types. Thing is when I put it on and leave it, it doesnt seem to sink in and when I touch my face I can feel it still there and I feel a little greasy. Thing is now I have it I want to use it, is there anyway I can make it sink in?

I used Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser before and it sank in quite well.

I also have Clarins Huile Lotus Face Treatment Oil for Combination Skin prone to Oilyness. Do I use this alone and put moisturiser ontop or can I mix a few drops into my moisturiser and apply?

I also use Decleor Aromessence Neroli when I feel my skin is too dry and dull. Same question as above really, do I use alone? Moisturise ontop or can I mix a few drops into moisturiser?

Thank you :)

You better stick to one brand, because all the products would benefit each other and you'll know for sure what goes first, second ..... It is hard to say how to use it all if they are from different brands. If your moisturize does not sink in to your skin it might be not the one for you, or may be you just use too much.
Hope it helps

Thanks Anastasia Vasic for your reply.

Which range do you think would suit me? As I can see where your coming from on the one range thing. Thing is I would like a range that covers a whole range of products e.g. skin type, aging etc.

Do you think Clarins is one of those? I have also seen on here Eve Taylor skincare?

Thanks

it depends what you want to achieve, if you have some concerns like pigmentation, acne or post acne scaring, wrinkles you need something quite active like nimue, environ or MD Formulations. If you skin is mostly normal and just needs a good moisturize go for Eve Taylor. From my point of view Clairins has nothing good to offer.

Really? Clarins is rubbish? Thought it would have been a good brand.

My skin is combination/oily, but sometimes dry on my cheeks. I have blackheads on my nose and chin I suffer from spots every now and then. I have broken capillaries around my nose, I am getting fine lines around my eyes. My skin is shiny after a bit when applied makeup but I find if I use a moisturiser that is too matte I find my skin is really dry and makeup doesn't go on right.

Just want to find a really good brand that I can use and stick to.

Forgot to add I would like to introduce an anti-ageing products as well.

Go for environ then.
You can't go wrong with it. Just remember, it is a very active range so your skin might get worse before it gets better.

Is the Environ range just for anti-aging? Is there another range as their products are quite expensive (just had a quick look).

Thanks for the advice

Hi Baby11
I would recommend you go to a local salon (preferably one with a few skin care brands) and have a facial with a beauty therapist. This way the therapist can really assess your skin and select the right product for you. Also ask the therapist the best way to apply the product too. The facial might cost a bit but you will save in the long run as you will be able to get the right product for you.
Failing that Moor Spa is great :)
Regards Jo

Clarins is not at all rubbish it is a fantastic range and has something to offer everyone, they are also one of the few professional ranges that has a moisturiser suited for oily skin whilst also being anti ageing.

My advice would be to go to a salon as Jo has said that stocks a few different ranges so you can have a play with the products and see what is right for you.

Were you not advised on the Clarins & Decleor oils when you purchased them ? I would personally advise a few drops of either under your moisturiser and on there own at night. It has been a few years since I trained with either range so they may have changed there procedures now. It does actually say in the product application guide how to apply the products.

I didnt think Clarins was a bad range I like their oils so might change to them later on and see how I suite with them.

How can I find out about the salons where I live? Just I am in a big city and it will take me forever to find which ones stocks different products.

With Clarins I was advised it will be good for oily skins and good for moisturisation so I bought that and with the Decleor oils I was advised it would be good for dull/tired and dry.

Last night I put two drops of the Clarins oil with my Hive Moisture Light Cream for the first time and I have to say it sank in more than I though it would do, before I went to bed I just blotted the excess off with a tissue but it wasnt much :). But with the Hive products I have searched for them on here and no-one seems to like their facial range? Are Hive "bad" then for facial products?

I may go with Clarins you know after I've used what I have. They have a great range of products.

There's nothing wrong with Clarins, it's a good range. Hive is ok but it's not premium quality like Clarins and Decleor.

I've found with skincare that what suits one person doesn't suit another with the same skin. It's taken me years and a lot of money to find out what suits my skin. I'd say before you invest in any more products, get samples of the ones you're interested in so you can try them for a couple of days before you buy. Find a few good salons in your area and go and ask them for a skin consultation, see what they recommend.

In all honestly I would have never thought about asking for samples for products. Didn't know they would? :o Would I just get samples from the actual salon? Or can I order them online? Just at the moment its hard for me to get to a salon.

Premium skincare houses should always provide samples. I know with Decleor I have samples of all of my products & testers on display; I wouldn't want anyone to buy something that doesn't suit their skin as it does nothing in the long run for the salon's credibility or the range's reputation.

I never said that Clarins was 100% rubbish, it is just ok. I worked with it for a year, and I have never seen much improvement in my clients skin. It is ok to use to hydrate slightly dry skin or slightly oily, but if you need a bit more than that, I didn't find it so good. I.m sorry if I upset some Clarins users, but these are my honest thoughts about it.
