I had a look around the site but i don't think they are the same at all, the teaching on that site is for if you want to teach young people, not adult hth

Yeah thanks love.. me too.
Ah well I'll do it all again if I have to I suppose:)
Really was hoping not to go back to college but got my head around it now...yet again:hug:

This whole debate where nails are concerned and company training versus VTCT/NVQ is both interesting and slightly worrying. It seems that the general consensus is that if you train with a reputable company, you get the <arguably> better training and yet the employment market tends to favour the national standard 'Professional' qualifications.

I am planning to fund myself next year to get through the VTCT route, with a view to consolidating my knowledge, training and qualifications and yet so many seem to be saying that I've already had the better and more up to date education with a reputable company!

If the knowledge/skills imparted at colleges isn't the most up to date and comprehensive etc, then isn't it about time the government was 'Educated' about this deficit and had a rethink about their standards? :irked:

hi if you want to know more about the 7303 PTLLS or the 7304 CTLLS go to the IFL site www.ifl.ac.uk and they will explain it a bit more for you.
I want to teach privately so I am doing the 7303 and will be covered to teach by the guild insurance. I also want to teach at my local college so i would also need to do the 7304 certificate which will enable me to teach at college.u can go further into specific teaching courses etc it goes on and on.
It depends on who you want to teach and where you want to teach.

If you are a qualified educator for a nail company do you still have to do your teaching certificates at college in order to teach in a college for VCTC or NVQ nail courses?
I've been wondering about this for a while....

Hi Honey

I had to do my A1 assessor award for teaching in college which i completed about 2years ago.

Since then I have now gained my VTCT assersor award and working towards my Advanced PDA which is now a grade 9 which the the same as the dgree for the TQFE award.

Hope this helps

None of ours do Judy. In fact I had a college the other day call and ask if they could send 5 beauty lectures on a Foundation Course so they could 'teach nails in college'... not very inspriring huh that the college thinks so little of nails, that they actually think that y sending their teachers on a Foundation Course for a beginner student - that this would be enough for them to teach 20 odd students??? No wonder students come out of college so disallusioned with nails!

I'd go to a (CND in my case) Ambassador / Educator every time. Personally I think it stands to reason that trainers for nail companies who have been trained by the company itself and have vast experience in applying enhancements, are going to be far more knowledgeable, than a beauty lecturer in college who has been sent on a foundation course and may have never applied a full set in their lives!! Just MHO anyway!

I couldnt agree more with you Sam this is why the college I teach in currently had lecturers like me who specialis in nails and an educator for a nail company. Unfortunately this is not the case throughout the country. (which it should be)

No but you need to get your A1 assessors qualification to asses the NVQ's PTLLS to teach them etc.
