I've been doing L&P for over 16 years and can't say that I mastered it because I'm always learning something new which is great and keeps it interesting, and fun. I do Wraps and Tip and Dip also and now I'm trying Gels. My Question is for those that have been doing L&P and Gels for a long time and are good at both, which one do you like to do personialy, not both because its good to have a veriaty of options for you clients and what they like and what works for them, but what do YOU like to work with best (leaving nail art out) Which do you think is easier, quicker (especially when you need to do repairs) and funer just when doing Standard Sets or Fills. Thanks :)

I did L&P for 15 yrs, tried wraps dips etc... started with gels 5 yrs ago and eventually switched everybody over to gels. I like L&P too, but I find gel to be easier to maintain, less lifting and no discoloration. And it is soooo easy to file which makes fills a breeze. Since I don't take new customers and fills are 95% of my business gels make my life easy!

When I first started with the gel I thought it would be quicker than acrylic b/c it's ready mixed, softer to file etc... but a full set of gel or infills actually take around the same time as acrylic (for me anyway).
Mostly I prefer to work with acrylic b/c gels don't seem to suit my clients lifestyles, my clients seem to be really rough with their nails.

I would not say i have mastered these techniques since i think that you always learn new things, but here i go...
Personally i prefer l&p over gel. i work much faster with it since i don´t need to put my customers hand everytime in the lamp to cure, once you master the mix ratio you get no lifting at all, if you choose a good product the color stays true, repairs go fast. you can fix corners without needing a nailform, easy to pinch a nail, moste hard gels need to be buffed off while l+p is a tough material but can be soaked off with ease, no chances of heat spikes on sensitive nails and now these days you dont need to buff them either anymore and you can just put a nice finishing gel on top of it.

Too bad you didn't try the right L&P Gina !!

The L&P I use never ever yellows, does not lift and is as easy to file as a gel.

I like to work best with L&P even though I am perfectly happy working with gel .. for me gel takes longer and just generally more time consuming with all that in/out in/out business (and I work always with 2 UV Lamps). By the time I have done the first layer of gel and cured both hands, I could have been on to finishing a L&P set!

I prefer to work with L&P over hard gel basically because I am more proficient at it. I can do a decent set of gel nails but didn't train in gel to master level as I find L&P fills all my needs.

I also guess I am very lucky in the brand of L&P I use too. That obviously is an important factor, one that I take for granted sometimes x

I have to say I agree with you, I haven't been doing gels long though only few months and might change my mind later when I've been doing Gels for many years.
Thanks everyone for you replies. Hope to hear from others with their opinions.
