Im going to be starting a nail room from home in November time. I dont want to be buying products just because they are cheap and possibly no good but want good quality stuff.

Im 99% sure I want to go for Creative Polish, what do you all think? Also how many bottles would be a good number to start me off?

Yet another question (lol) I've seen designer type nail tips (LV, Gucci..) are these popular? I was thinking they would be.

Now this is a silly question but for your table what covering do you all use? I know you can get the paper slips, or do you improvise?
Sorry for all the questions!

I can't speak for Creative polishes as Ive not got them or used them extensively but in regards to how many the worlds your oyster, when I was mobile I brought the french polish set, a red, black, brown, several pinks, opaque one, a plum, and some glitter ones. After that I used to go to the warehouse every other week and see what I fancied as well as what was the 'seasons' colours. I won't tell you what I've got a collection of as most will probably think they are no good but they did the job for me.

I used the Burbery tips on a client when I did mobile and she loved them but I found them very 'chavy' looking but each to their own, you could get a picture of them in your room and ask if they would like them the next time.

With my table covering I used to use a towel on the bottom covering all the table, then I rolled a hand towel up to place in the middle (as I didn't have a cushion) and then I used the smaller couch roll which is ideal for covering the rolled up hand towell and can be removed after all the prep work and replaced if required.

Again, everyone have different ways of doing things and I'm not saying mine was the right way but it worked for me :)

Good luck with working from home!

Thanks!

I was thinking of ordering about 30 to start with and take it from there. As for the nail tips, im not fussed on them myself but I will order a box and see what happens.

I was thinking couch roll too!

I have about 18 nail colours a couple of shades in each basic coulour, red, pinks, creams, peach, etc, but tbh..and french...but I dont really get a call as much for the colours as much as I do for the french, so I wouldnt go to mad at first.
I use a towel and kitchen roll on my table I think its better than the small couch roll tbh.
I also have a manicure mat, for comfort, but before I had that I just used a rolled up towel as well. HTH. X

again, beware when using these pre design tips.

as much as you don't want anyone to use your logo without your permission, or if they use it for a commercial purpose, you'd claim for royalties, it is the same with such tips.

believe me LVMH NEVER accepted that.

Ive just started out mobile and i carry about 12 varnishes at the mo but i find that i only really use french or black LOL but have a pink, brown, glitter in my collection. So dont go mad see whats the norm in your area otherwise you could end up spending alot of money on colours that you never use IMO

I agree don't go too mad with the amount you buy stick to the basics.

I use a towel and large couch roll over the top with my manicure cushiony thing (cant think what its called) on top. After I have done my prep and filing I fold back the large piece of couch roll, apply my tips. I use napkins from a low cost store when applying my l&p and then once finished and doing my final filing, shaping I fold back the couch roll.
I wash the towel after each client, so I have a small stock of those.
Does that make sense??
As for nail polishes, I bought a 'joblot', of a fairly good high street brand, and they have barely seen daylight, although i tend to do a lot of tipping.
As for designer/coloured tips, most of my clients - so far - are quite scared of these, as with Nail Art - so dont go spending too much money until you get an idea of what your clients would want.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a list of things I need to get but Im not going to go mad, my business head takes over sometimes lol. Cant wait though to get started.

Creative polish is fantastic, it lasts forever and never goes thick and gloopy in the bottle like most do,
i think i may have OCD where polish is concerned, i have about 100 different colours oops lol,
i would show pictures of the pre designed tips to clients and tell them they are only available by order,
i have 20 or more boxes of these and have only used them twice on one client and once on myself,
hth

I have OCD about shiny pretty things so have to be a good girl with my debit card when ordering nail art products.

I have found it is always good to plan ahead with colours, i.e. brights for summer (especially for toes) french colours, neutrals & colours for autumn/winter/xmas & then also I have a few nail art striper pens (those two-in-one striper/dotting pens) It's amazing how you can transform a colour with a few flicks or glitter tips or simple flower designs.

My client's always seem to want what I am wearing!

Go with the basics then add a few seasonal colours, too much choice causes confusion for the client imo!!

hth!
