Following my recent visit to Gigi and her fab training I am now practising L&P daily and feel far happier than I ever have done with it.

EXCEPT

I am useless at compensating for different temperatures in the room with regards to my ratio. It really is a bit trial and error. Is this something that just becomes automatic eventually? I do get there but it is taking a couple of 'test beads'

Adele, dont worry about doing test beads. I rarely get my ratio bang on first go!
xxx:hug:

I too always do one or two test beads. It helps me get my mix ratio correct x

Adele, I often have to do a few test beads to get my eye in.
one thing I do always do is to keep my nail studio a regular temp, I can't being too warm while working and in the summer I work with the blinds down (gwad know what the neighbours thinks going on in there !)
also watch what you are doing, sometimes I get so engrossed in what I'm doing I don't stop to watch what I'm doing ! watch how you are wiping your brush on the side of the dampen dish and make sure you are wiping it the same and with the same pressure both sides.. ( I was doing a half wipe when I flipped my brush over .. until someone pointed it out!) xx you'll get there, I do feel this is one (if not the) most important steps xx

Adele luv, it will come to you .... it's actually "a feel" (also the "look" of the bead) that comes with time ... and just when you get it right, it's time to change because you need a different sized application.

There are quite a few variables, ie; how much of the brush you dip in, how much of the brush you wipe off, size of bead picked up .... blah blah blah.

For your system there are some vids on the Creative website for pros Login - CND (they take forever to load) and the sticky outy bits on the brush give me the irrates:).But they are quite good and "talk" through things, as well as show the results of such beads.

At least for the moment you are recognising it and wiping off the application and trying again. Nuthin worse that not seeing what's wrong, then battling with it on the nail.

Breathe, Persist, Breath, Persist.

May the force be with you

My ratio drives me mad !

One nail spot on ....next nail too wet.....next nail spot on Arrrghhhhhh

I think I have ruined my brush with working too wet over the last month, the hairs are now coming out......

I think I was rushing with the acrylic in case it got to dry, I find that if I pause whilst its on the brush, then pause whilst its on the nail, the ratio seems to be right.

It has improved no end over the last week or so but too late for the brush i think lol

Practice Practice & more Practice.............Will I ever be a nail tech ????? YES !!!

Welcome to the site.

Now everyone listen up --- sometimes we can all just be a little too literal!! Relax and listen.

If the bead is too wet, dip again lightly and make it right.
Too dry? Discard it .. no good. do better next time and don't pick up so much powder.

If the bead is too small, apply it to the nails and make another bead!! Nails don't have to be done in three beads or 5 beads or even 20 beads. I make as many as it takes to do the job. Sometimes it is only one and sometimes 2 and 3 and sometimes even more than that. So what??

Do what needs to be done and stop stressing. It is not that difficult really it isn't.

As Carl says, you can tell by the look and feel if you've got it and if you don't, then you have to try just a little harder and then .... remember how you did it.

What a joy to read . . . let's all stop stressing so much!! I sometimes dip again if the bead's too wet, occasionally abandon if too dry, and quite often take more than 3 beads for the whole nail and I've never given it any thought lol, I've just done whatever to get it right. I never realised it was a problem till this thread Adele pmsl! Ah yes, that's cos it isn't lol

As for what's the matter with you Adele . . . nothing (please don't change, you're so funny)
