:) Hi all

Can anyone offer advice on re-opening closed up ear piercing?

I got out of the way of wearing my 2nd earrings, resulting of course in the piercing closing up. Now i want to start wearing them again - I am fickle!

Could I do this myself with a needle, or is it best to leave it to the piercing studio?

Happy to do whats best and safest.

Cheers,
jtp

I would leave it to the professionals .. just to be on the safe side.

Definately leave it to the professionals!! How long since you last wore earrings in the holes? Generally, once the hole has closed up a new piercing will have to be done just next to it as you shouldn't pierce though scar tissue.

i would go get the professionals to re-Peirce if it has been too long such as over 6 months or a year.

i always took my ear rings with me to prevent them closing.

you cant pierce over healed up holes, they would have to pierce a new hole, personally I would gently try and ease the earings through the holes, depending on how badly they are healed mind!

One of the backs of mine healed and I couldn't get my ear rings in. I could tell that it was only the back as the stud would go through the front with some persuasion. My daughter tried and she said that its completely healed over at the back.

Well I didn't want another hole in my lobe so I decided to try and do them myself. I had just bought some tiny diamond studs and the stems were very fine. I got an ice cube and put it at the back of my ear and put the stud in the front and with the ice cube pressed up against the back of my lobe I pushed the stud until it broke through. It didn't hurt like it had done when trying to get my ear rings in before as the ice had numbed the lobe a bit. It didn't bleed or get infected and I have worn my studs ever since.

I think if it had been healed inside then I probably wouldn't have tried to do it myself.
