i know this may sound stupid, i have been in the nail bizz for a while, but how come the chinese nail bars nails last so long? (yer cos they erase the natural nail!) lol, how come they stay so shiny? and where do they get there products? what do they use?
its obvious they ruin nails, but they have loyal clients cos they are indestructible!!!!!
my friend still has hers done there, she says they have self levelling products and a big tanker of whatever top coat they use!!!! i use creative and love it, im not nockin it or my nails, just get a bit dis heartened when i see theres with no in fills after 6 weeks still gleaming lol....let me in on the secret....liz xxxxx

Ummmm Methyl-methacrylate ring any bells? Yours can be just as shiny, get your snow block out, then get stuck in with a girlfriend.. no excuses for not producing a perfect shine, after all you are using a top end product.

They have loyal yet uneducated clients..they think because they can go six weeks and pay hardly anything, they are getting a great deal..a educated client on the other hand, who has experienced quality work knows the difference all the way..from the consult, sanitation, nail health and of course a beautifully enhanced nail ie. no fill lines, perfect form and colour..all the nss nails i have seen (a lot!) have a shiny, yet yellow tinged top coat which barely manages to disguise the efile scratches. Much better shine is achieved by graduating your grits. Are you starting off with a 240? This will guarantee you of a good result much faster.
Or you could do the cheats way ( i do:)) by using IBD intense seal after my 240..it does need a lamp,though..this shine will look like new until the client returns!
Unless you were crazy enough to use MMA, then clients do need to return 2-3 weekly..not many can make it to 4 without losing a couple(mine anyway!)
Concentrate on quality and you will gain quite a loyal clientele...and a smart one, too.

They probably use a gel topcoat...that way they can call them gels too:)

if you are lazy like me! you could use a gel top coat, perfect shine and no yellow
tinge like the nss.

I agree - MMA, but not all "Chinese" salons are MMA, nor are salon's who use drills/masks etc etc. Smells, cost, lack of branding and mostly quality of work are the better give aways of an NSS.

In cases where a client has been unable to get back for a rebalance, my nails can last intact for up to 6 weeks if they have been looked after. I don't use MMA, just Creative Moxie, followed by Brisa Gel Top Coat to get a long lasting shine. Easy peesey! (Oh and yes im a bit lazy too!)

in our local NSS where they use MMA they use a uv top gloss gel cos they get you to sit under a uv lamp set out like a bar.... the nails where still naff though.

thanks guys,
just to be clear i have loads of loyal clients, and my nails are brill........im simply wondering how they do it!!!!! i wasnt tottally aware of there product but rings a bell now saw a thread on it on here once, and in scratch!!!
and i think i will go the high shine gel top coat route, been thinkin bout it for ages, its just getting the bloody big lamp out lol......
good to listen to your views
thanks

Not All Asians Are Chinese !!!!!

Thank you Carl comments like this drive me crazy

I get wonderful shine i use heat dry by creative, YN's top coat, a buffing cream and soft buffer thingy attachment for my efile or by hand or i use gel top coat. Get fab results from any of these

Not All Asians Are Chinese !!!!!

But all white people are American or English :)

All jokes aside, the majority of "those" salons here are staffed by Vietnamese. I'm sure they would hate being called Chinese as much as you may dislike being called a white South African.

To put it in a perspective we may (as nail techs understand) it's like saying all nail products are the same.

this is completely beside the point, ultimately side tracking my thread to what it was actually meant for!!! thnx

No worries... a lot of threads go off on a tangent and sometimes a lot of good info comes out of it :green:

Crikey! All I want to say is I use Finish Gel over my tips/sculpts. It saves about 10 minutes soft filing and buffing. You cure it under a lamp but its a right little earner. ALL my clients have it and I charge an extra £2 for it. It doesn't sound like much but 40 clients a week all with it on mounts up. (the price is standard around here.) Anyway its from Young Nails (can't send you a link cos I'm crap on computers)Google it
Oh and some of my clients can go 4/5 weeks with no breakages or lifting which isn't good for me but great for advertising when they tell their friends!

And just to butt in on the subject of 'foreign' nail salons - one opened around the corner from me a few months ago and I thought my days were numbered. Their nails were so fast, cheap and thin. They are NOT nail specialists. The ones near me can't speak any English so how would they advise you on nail care or any problems that might arise? So I might be more expensive but I pride myself on customer service and a willingness to tell ANY client the products I'm using and not guard them like some secret as they do here. They cater for people wanting cheap, fast nails and gladly thats not me. RANT OVER! xxx:mad:

thanks thats great advice, ill deffo try their finish!as for the 'other' salon i know what you mean, ive had a lot of clients just because of the fact that they cant talk english, and all the girls want is a good chat at the same time as having their nails done! ive got my application down to 45 mins and my nails always last till next fill so im not doin bad. i think its just the fact that with these other big salons u can go in, in your lunch break or spare of the moment and they will always serve you!!
but as i said already on this thread i was only interested in the products they use!! lol

I think it has got be the most closely guarded secret in the world!!! Surely there must be some governing body that can check which products they are using. They must be answerable to someone if the dreaded MMA is banned???

you would think, but im sure you know as well as i do know one has ever asked me what i use, and what do the blokes at the council know about nails and beauty?? its takes them to be reported by some one with the facts before anyone takes notice xx

MMA isn't banned... at least not in the UK... yet!
