Is offering a 2nd week infill and a 4th week french backfill old skool??

This is not my usual way of working but i am covering for someone who has gone on maternity leave for 6 months and their is a possibilty i share part time with her when she gets back. She offers it this way. She has had some of her clients for the whole of 9 yrs she has been doing nails and they have been following her from salon to salon.

I have a £5 difference in the charges and whenever i get an infill appiontment, i end up giving that extra work to the enhancements due to cracks/pocket lifting/sidwall lifting. (not my work, i've only been covering in the salon for the past 2 weeks) and they get it £5 cheaper!

I am thinking of scrapping my pricelist and doing another and making it a 2wk rebalance sevice and charge the one price whether they want a french backfill or not has an infill is taking me the same time as a backfill would do and a full set the same as a backfill!! lol :grr: Im thinking back to my training and offer a 2 week diagnosis rebalance me thinks!!

Im not sure whether the clients would be happy with this but should i just go for what i want to offer anyway has im sure they will all jump ship once the other tech comes back anyway.
What maintance do you offer to your clients?

Another thing, i made the mistake and asked the client if M buffs to a high shine before a polish app (i knew M did but asked just to see how much the clients really takes notice) 'Oh yes, M always buffs to a high shine'
Whats the point in that!! I hate buffing to a high shine and normally use a clear polish and i see no point if it were just gonna be covered in polish anyway! M told me to just work the way i wanted and they wouldn't notice BUT THEY DO! lol

i personally dont like the fill at 2 weeks/french at 4 weeks approach.

if a french is going to be correctly placed to last 4 weeks, then its not going to look good when its first done as the white will be too far towards the eponichium.

i want my nails to have the best look at all times so i do a full rebalance at each maintenance appointment. i would charge the same for either and make sure the cost covered the full job.

could you cut out the buffing with a gel top coat, or havent you got a uv lamp?

There is a lady who only comes in once a month, one month she will have an french backfill, the other she will have an infill and walk away with lovely part natural/ part white french look! lol

I do have a lamp but they are used the M's ways of working and like a buff to high shine :irked: A lot of the clients are older clients and calls these things machines.

convince them that it is added value at no added cost and they will try it i bet.

its not fair that you do more work for less money.
what does 'm' do when it comes to fixing all this lifting for the price of a simple fill ?

I've had to fill in for a tech before and it sucks. especially when her clients jumped her ship and came to me. little awkward but i can't help it and i can't tell a client not to come if thier not happy with their old tech so be careful lol. I would recommend that you do the best you can to accomodate requests that they want. But for the next 6-12 weeks you have to see these people and you can't suffer that long. instead of buffing, try doing an up-sale style suggestion, like, "oh well I have this fabulous new product that you might like, would you like to try it out?" I always tell them, "try it this go round, if you don't like it we'll switch back". course i know they are going to like it and they never go back. try that up-sale approach on everything. and also try talking "m" up. I had that problem with my "j". they'd say "j" does it this way... i'd reply with "well i'm glad you're giving me the chance to try it my way, then you'll know youhave a back-up for when "j" cant help you." makes them feel like you appriciate their trust and they will in turn trust you more for being humble. hth

Thanks for the advise :)
Im still buffing but i have switched from the Girlfriend Buffer to the CND buffing block and they are very happy with it, it has only 2 buffing sides, much quicker and super shiney. It will cost me more to use has i find they dont last has long. BUT they will hopefully be saying to M when she returns 'K does it this way, K uses a block buffer'

I also talked a client into a full rebalance instead of a infill today and she was very happy., considering she never has a 4th week french backfill but a soak-off and full set once a month instead. She even gave me a £10 tip. So fingers crossed i can talk the rest of the clients into a full rebalance. xx
