Hi everyone. I need some advise please! I have a client who would like a pedicure but she has a damaged nail on her big toe. Would I be able to use a builder gel to reconstruct a toe nail for her or would I need a specialist product. It doesn’t show any signs of infection, she damaged her toe nail on a night out and it’s never grown back properly since. Any advise would be fab xx

Yes you can use Gel, or L&P or a hybrid, it's done quite often and with a lot of success. There is a view amoungst some that L&P is not the best idea as it's too hard and does not flex when the toes are put under pressure in shoes and can cause lifting, but there is also the contradicting view that the Gel flexing can also cause lifting. I would use a clear product so when you take of the polish you can easily see what is happening underneath, that way you can check for any lifting, cracking or other issues at each subsequent appointment. Also advise your client to contact you immediately if they have any issues such injury, pain, unusual feeling in the nail you have created.

Thank you for your advise. I use a clear builder gel from magpie and the client is happy to be a guinea pig. I will of course advise the client on contacting me if she were to have any issues. Thank you again x

Denise Johns on youtube has a lot of videos on this using polygel and dual forms.

Thank you for your reply. I have watched a lot of you tube videos including the ones you have suggested but I don’t use acrylic so I just wanted to know if a builder gel was adequate enough. X
