ok im new to this site and not realy sure what i am doing, so here is my question, i hope someone can help me, i am using IBD gel system (non soak off) and was wondering how others who use a non soak off system remove the nails?

hi and welcome to the site.
if you are a consumer, it is essential to have the nails removed professionally.
there is no simple way to remove gel nails at home and it must be done by a qualified technician to avoid potential damage to the natural nail.

i cant quite make out from your profile if you are a nail technician or a client, but i guess if you were a tech, this would have been covered when you did your gel training, so i hope thats some help. :)

Ok well i did my course a long time ago, i know you file them off but i have never actually done it, so i was just wondering if anyone could help me with exactly what to do...

If you have never done it then you DO need to go to a reputable nail tech and have them safely removed. Its not as easy as to just help you with what to do....the chances of you damaging your natural nails are high.

If all you want is them removed then it shouldn't really cost more than £10 - £15...and thats money well spent to ensure yours nails are left undamaged.

ok now this is becoming very frustrating, maybe i havent explianed myself properly, i am the nail tech and have not used a non soak off system before, i am very aware that you have to file them off, is that all there is too it just file and file until they are gone????

I'm sorry...my fault....I was confused as the thread was in consumer queries..now moved it to nails.

You would start by using a 180 and reducing the bulk of the gel...then as you get nearer the natural nail you use a 240 and gently blend and file the gel smooth. I never remove ALL the gel as its safer to let it grow off the natural nail.

As you get nearer the natural nail just go very easy otherwise you could end up filing through the gel and onto your natural nail causing thinning of the nail plate and this can lead to other problems.

Is there a reason why you want to remove the IBD...?

choose the forum you want first by clicking navigation top left...then forums......nails...skin...chit chat...etc...then at the top on the left will be a "New Thread" tab...click that.

umm well i am from australia, and the place that i trained with is now closed down maybe thats telling me something, i think i will just give up on the nail thing, cos i realy need to go and do another course and cant afford it and all the training schools are like a million miles from where i live, but thankyou very much for your help...appreciate it...
