Hi guys,

I am planning on renting a space in a hair salon to do nails and hope some of you's can answer my questions?

1. How do your clients pay? do you have your own till, cash box or use the salon owners?
2. How did you's start off with your rent payments? did you's negotiate with the salon owner to start off on a lower rate and increase after several months?
3. did you's get help with funding?
4. What effective start off offers did you's do?
5. What did you's retail to start with?
6.How much were your start your costs?

thanks in advance!

would relly be interested in the answers to these questions as i'm in the same boat!!

being as noone has replied i will do my best to help. i rent out a nail desk to a lady here and she pays me monthly by bacs. she didnt need to haggle as i offer a very low rate. she does not retail products yet. she takes her own payments by cash or cheque and i think advises each client before they attend. i do all her her marketing for her, so leaflets, 2 advertorials with photos have just been created for next monthy (she pays of course) and i designed all her literature ie rack cards, posters, business cards etc. yep i guess she is very lucky. we may even write to all of my clients to tell them that she is here but so far, in her 1st month she is doing very well anyway. good luck.

I would also like to know this.

I have been offered a space in a hairdressers on a weekly rental basis and just want to know the same questions.

I rent a space within a salon and pay her monthly. I have all my own equipment, desk, stock etc. I do all my own advertising. I use her coffee etc and her heating and her phone if I need to, but I prefer to make calls on my own phone as it is too noisy at reception. I did start up offers to get clients in a did my own window posters too. I put out loads of business cards through doors of local houses and told EVERYONE who came through the door that I was here and what I do. I still do some mobile work amongst salon appointments and all is ticking over nicely. Just work hard at it and you will succeed.
