Can someone explain to me how this works and how it benifits the person who is renting the chair? Is it a good place to start to build up your client database? If so how?!

Many thanks!! x

Hi Lisa~
here is a quick run down and who's who and what is what.

first off it works by the nail/hair/skin tech signs a lease like this:
http://www.salongeek.com/business/52329-boothrental-agreement.html

With a landlord (owner). This lease makes it legal between the two parties.
The tech usually gets a key to the business and has to supply all their own materials, they work the hours they want.

The benefits are just that. They are independant and work the hours they want. They take as many days off they want, they get to take vacation whenever and as often as they want. They are their own boss.
They also have to pay their own taxes, supplies, advertising etc.

You must have a standing clientele in order for this to work. No customers..no money..can't pay rent!
The landlord is not responsible to give you clients.

The easiest way to build a clientele is to work in a salary, wage, hourly salon first And sell yourself to the clients. Make them think that they cannot live without you! :D
In essence:
It is like running a bunch of small business within one large business..
did that help?
