Retailing Make-Up

Hi guys

I have been open about 18 months now. When i started i bought in a very good make up called SLA. However it doesn't seem to sell very well.

Just wondered how other managers/therapists etc found retailing make up in the salon and what promotions if any helped you've done to up sales.

Any advise appreciated

When i had my salon we sold loads of make up, it was i.d bare esscetuals. All the staff wore it and raved about it to clients, so thats how we sold a lot x

Yes, and if the therapist had time at the end of the treatment we would offer a free trial of the make up, just 5 to 10mins and most would buy something x

we get most of our clients who get make up done buying lip gloss and eye shadow. we use lily lolo so its really affordable, so its just £5 for an eyeshadow or £8 for lip gloss, and clients love them.

We have jane iredale and find it sells extremely well. We covered the cost of our opening order within the first two months.

SLA is great. Put it on every client at the end of every treatment. Dont ask them, say now your treatment has a makeup application included, let me choose the right shade for you. Talk about it as you apply it and send them home in it. If it wears well (which SLA should) they will come back to buy it. We do it with Mineral id. If someone so much as mentions makeup we are ready with a brush and we send them home with it on. So many come back and say I liked the one you used on me can I buy it then of course they buy a brush and mineral veil or a starter kit.
