Hello to all you lovely geeks and geeklettes, fab site!!!! so loving it!!!

First time asking question from downunder.

When you rebalance your pink and white l&p with the reverse backfill method do you:
(a) reduce length, prep, apply to zone 3, then use your drill to cut out the smile line and butt up the white or
(b) reduce length, thin out zone 1, take a little height out of zone 2, gentle file zone 3, prep, then apply zone 3 bead bringing it over zone 2 to create new apex and angle down into zone 1, then clean up the smile line with the brush, then butt up the white to the smile line.

I have mostly done "Forever French Rebalances" as originally taught by CND, of thin zone 1, check zone 2, file prep zone 3 and then thin application to recreate smile line, and growth area and hence not been a big "drill" nail tech.

I notice "Geegs" comments on "Reverse backfill - pink and white is it faster"
I wishing to find out how Geeg performs this method of backfilling.

thanking you all in advance, and wishing you all a great day.

I always thought an efile would be better but I have learned from geegs tut's a much better way of working. I now make sure when doing the initial set that I dont make too much work for myself when rebalance time comes. Also there are great tut's on file control, no need for an efile.
Number 2 for me btw

I do not use a drill.

I either use a file to thin out and apply in the normal way (not reverse) OR

I file the nails down in length and create the smile line with my file .. then I apply a form and re-apply a whole new zone 1 (this is what I do on my own nails). I find it very quick and easy.

thank you so much Gigi for clearing that up for me

i have a question, lol...... when you file away zone one and apply the form to re create it in its new position....do you ever cap in clear at all as sometimes when i have done it i find that i get some people where the zone 1 just breaks away if they knock it.....so i have been capping in clear to sop it from happening...which has worked. However if it shouldnt be necessary then i would like to know what i am doing wrong. Thank you

I don't do it but if it works then just do it. Doesn't mean you are going wrong .. maybe it just means you had a heavy handed client. Anyone can knock and break the free edge .. I've done it a time or two. so if a small cap in clear helps you then do it. I just don't normally do it. Doesn't make me right and you wrong.

ok thanks...may be they were just heavy handed then, lol.

I'm So new and confused. It takes me 2 hours to do a fill or a full set of Gel nails , it sometimes even takes me three and a half hours! Good thing I'm working on friends, I have the nail class book and love it but I feel like flying across the world for lessons, I was considering an e file just to speed up, I can't figure out where I loosing time, and I keep getting side lifting in zone 2! my zone 1's are great but sides lift sometimes almost the next day. I am using En Vogue Gel, really expensive but no odor can anyone help and let me know how to choose the best product line for me?
