Having trouble getting rhinestones to stick on polish. Have read previous threads, so tried tip adhesive but that didn't work. Tried pushing into top coat then covering with another layer of topcoat and that didn't work either. In both cases, they didn't even stay on a couple of hours!

I must be doing something wrong. When using tip adhesive do you have to wait until the polish is completely dry first? Could I be using too much adhesive?

Where did your gems come from?.. I know some geeks have had trouble with the Ebay ones..
Also what adhesive are you using... you need one that is 5 sec drying... so they it sets straight away... you should be ok with pressing them into a good quality top coat...
hope you get this sorted out... gems are so pretty

Are they flat-backed? You can really only get flat-backed rhinestones to adhere in polish....the shaped ones usually need gel or L&P to 'sink' into.

I've tried 2 different types of rhinestone. Some were from a pack from the beauty wholesalers specifically for nails and some were bought from ebay which have a flat back but have a green backing on them.

I have tried the IBD 5 second tip adhesive and also the NSI brush on adhesive.

The topcoat I use is by Virgin Vie as I use all their polishes and have never had a problem with the quality before.

Hi hun I always use NSI brush on and dont have a problem, I just touch the brush to the nail and pop the gem on, I have some on my toes been there 5 weeks now.
Havent seen any gems with a green backing tho, so dont know if that makes a difference ..xx

Do you wait till the polish is completely dry though?

I usually put them on gel, but if I am putting them on polish I would wait, the add gems then topcoat, some geeks have a problem with gems dulling when topcoat is added, I havent so far touch wood ...xxx

are you sure you ain't using hotfix gems...? they are for heat adhesion...not for nails.

I use gems on nails and have no problems.. on gel or polish...i applied mine to polish while it was still tacky with some gelbond and they have lasted 2 weeks so far.

One pack is hotfix gems, the others are definately made for nails as I bought them from a reputable beauty wholesaler. I was told that the hotfix gems were ok to use though, just that they would be a little more raised than a normal nail gem.

I stuck one of each type onto a painted tip last night after making sure that the polish was completely dry and this morning they do seem to be well fixed. Maybe that is the answer - wait till polish is completely dry? Although how I would do this when working mobile I don't know

I apply my gems on top of the Airshield by NSI with nail adhesive and give them a quick spray of activator (from a silk/fabric kit).
