hi..personal problem hope some1 can help!!

i have noticed that i am getting really bad ridges on may nails.....these are new what should i do?? i thought buffing would help but is there anything else? what causes it??

thanks xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I don't know what causes it so i can't help there but if my manicure ladies have ridges, i buff gently with SolarOil using the shiney side of koala buffer each time they have a manicure. That helps smooth them over.

Really, you should never try to "buff" or file those ridges out. Because in reality you do not have new "raised" areas but "lowered" areas. Buffing or filing will file down the good nail to the thinner, weaker area and weaken your entire nail plate. Many things cause ridges and sometimes they occur naturally with age. The best thing to cover those ridges is a good "ridge-filling" basecoat or an overlay.

ah haaaaaaa Someone has been listening to OR reading Mr Doug Schoon :D

yes, they aren't actually ridges, but depressions/canals along the nail plate that give the impression of ridges.
This starts in the Matrix where a trauma or other has occurred.

DO NOT BUFF!! EVER!

Simply use a good ridge-filling basecoat, and proceed with your manicure.

Yup!! I am in Doug's "Brain" all the time!

Ive had ridges for the past three years and never had them before in my life, however I have recently learned through a dietician that its down to my poor diet of late [oh the shame]- too much sugar!

It could be some thing different for you but as you said about diet I thought I should mention it :)

Sorry C-C My Nails i may have not explained myself clearly, i used the word 'smooth' not 'remove.' I work in a north to south direction with the shiney side (1200 grit) koala buffer using SolarOil. It helps with the apperance of ridges. :)
