Perhaps this falls under blog, but I wanted to see if anyone else finds this irritating, or am I the only one??

Who gets paid to conjur up some of the highly ridiculous names for some shades of nail enamel? I mean those ones that are obviously meant to sound quirky, but in no way reflect the shade of enamel. I use CND, but I know its a universal thing across the brands.

Some examples for you: a neutral brown shade from CND is called "Cinch my Corset", I hear that another brand (not sure which one), has a nice red called "tickle my triangle".

Sometimes when I'm painting a clients nails and they ask me the name of the shade, I almost feel silly saying it, and you can tell the client feels the same!

Does this bug anyone else?

I love the names of some of the enamels, I know what you mean about silly ones though, cant think of any at the moment, but, I would prefer the names to have something to do with the colour iykwim!

My fav is the CND colour Nomad, isnt a Nomad a traveller? What colour is a traveller, maybe the same colour as the enamel, who knows!!!! lol!!

Its always a topic of conversation during my nail treatments! One popular OPI colour with my clients is 'who comes up with these names?' and they always laugh at it! 'Oh to be 25 again' is also another one they comment on.

I enjoy talking about their names. Although tickle my triangle is pretty funny

I like 'hotski to toshki' by CND and 'Im not really a waitress' by OPI. some of them do make me giggle, and its quite a good conversation starter with clients to! they usually make them laugh! xx

Those risque names are quite funny - and lets face it whos ever going to forget a name of a colour called tickle my triangle (ideal for those maths geniuses).

I am going to invent a bright pinky red called 'fat arse' what do you think?

xx

Tickle My Triangle is a China Glaze holographic pink colour, I peed my pants when I read the label under the bottle!

The lamest name I ever saw for a polish was "Nice Colour, Eh?" by OPI...it's like they were at a total loss what to name it!!

I do like the odd names. It's always a topic of conversaton and it helps me to remember them easily.

Try not to feel silly when saying them, it's just a bit of fun and hopefully your customers will see it that way.

I used LCN for a few years and their polishes are just numbers - sooooo boring! My fave silly name has to be sh1take Happens by CND!

I just love 'Aphrodite's pink nightie' by OPI - not the colour just the name:green:

I use OPI, the names of the colours can be a talking point, and also they tend to remember the name if it was a colour they really loved, so they can ask for it again. I have an elderly lady who is tickled pink by her favourite "Aphrodite's Pink Nightie", and they all grin and nod at "Oh to be 25 again" lol

I've yet to find any of them too annoying yet but maybe it'll come! A large proportion of my clientele are 60 plus so I can't imagine telling them that the colour they've chosen is called "Tickle my Triangle" lmao. . . mind you, some of them are the worst when it comes to giving you all the details lol

I ought to get that one, since my salon's called Aphrodite!

I've an arthritic, elderly client who always has OPI's Tijuana Dancer enamel on her nails. She just loves to tell everyone that the name is her job description !
Another 'posh' lady likes I'm not really a waitress and always has a giggle at the name.
I like the fact that it's a bit of a conversation starter and clients are always asking when I'm getting some new ones - if only to read the names.

I agree with you on this one! I sometimes feel quite embarrassed to say what nail colour I'm wearing at any given time. For example... I love tartalicious but hate the name! :irked:

Also think the OPI ones are just plain weird...............
