Ruby Slippers...refills?

I did a couple of sets of ruby slippers last week, and the ladies who now own them...love them. Just wondering, if they want them rebalancing on their next vist...how is this best done???

The 'ruby' bit of the enhancement (zone 1) is under a thin layer of clear acrylic.....if I take the enhancement thinner (as I would a regular rebalance), this will go through the clear acylic..to the 'ruby' layer...creating a red....dusty....mess!!! Is this right, or do I soak off and start again???
