Hi guys,

I love CND and have used them for years, but the other day i thought id order a moxie trail kit online £9.95 (great) but when i saw the breakdown I was put off....... the order was nearly £22.00 with VAT and P&P Plus i noticed that they add VAT to the price of P&P.

ive never noticed this before as ive place quite big orders, but i did check around and CND are the most expensive P&P around.

I dont have any prob's paying the top price for a top product (which they are) but the P&P is a bit off I think!!!!!

The main issue here is that CND products will likely contain chemicals and solvents that are illegal to send by post, and so must be sent by courier, hence the additional expense.

And the packaging must be suitably robust to ensure that the products are delivered intact, and to minimise the chance of any glass bottles breaking and causing product to leak out.

Being a professional supplier, they are also likely to quote prices (including P&P) as ex VAT - salons who are VAT registered will then be able to claim the VAT back off the tax man (assuming they are not VAT registered under the flat rate scheme).

I totally agree with what your saying but in saying that my Last 2 orders have come to my work with the normal post, thats what made me think!

xx

I bought a tool kit and the postage was free as it was over £125. The items come by courier rather than post and my thinking is you've paid the minimum postage they have and if you had bought more you still would have paid that amount hence why the general advice is save up small orders and do them all at once and make the postage worth it

Just edited as you said your order came by normal post, all mine have come by courier, I didn't know packages containing monomer or hazardous chemicals could be sent via ordinary post?

Actually ... S2 are definitely not the most expensive postage around and as said if you order flammable liquids they go by courier.

As for VAT on postage ... I'm afraid this is absolutely normal for all P&P

Mins advice is sound advice.

it doesnt matter what way you look at it £22 for the trail kit is expensive.... it is worth giving them a call and speakng to them about it they can be very helpful with things like that. xx

It might be but that said anyone has the freedom of choice to order or not order? If S2 are helpful with this scenario thats fab but I'm not sure how its their issue, the prices are there and its not rocket science to order more and make the postage worth it. I'd rather wait, if it were me, until I need some polishes or other extra bits and pieces.

Compared to what? Companies who send monomer by regular letter post, therefore endangering the people who come into contact with the product that's not packaged properly?

But it's not though... it's 9.95 + VAT and p+p!

What I don't understand is the point of this thread, sorry but I don't... plus, it's a thread that's complaining without a point and is now closed!

Hey there,

Can't really add muchto what has been said other than:

1- We have a flat courier rate which is less than most courier rates because we do not actually try and make a profit off it or use it to offset mid range shipments. We charge our cost to get the package to you.
2- By law, we must send hazardous packages via courier. We would never send a hazardous package via post.
3- P&P is a service that we have to pay the government VAT on (remember, we don't make the VAT, the government do!).
4- Speaking of VAT, anything you buy from us is ex-vat
5- As an FYI, we pay the courier fees on web orders over £125

Try me kits are less than you quoted. In fact, with P&P and VAT, your total would have been £16.62. Obviously not ideal, but keep in mind that £5.50 is what we pay the courier to take the package to you and the VAT on that is £2.17. So half of what you ordered is pure cost to get it to you (and thats before we even factor in the cost of buying the try me kit or shipping costs to get it to us!).

I understand that none of this really matters as I do know where you are coming from. I just wanted to try to clarify the claim of expensive P&P and give a little insight to 'the other side'.

HTHs
