Just been reading Sams thread on the Geek Gazette which reminded me of something I was thinking of doing in the Salon.

I am shortly going to ge offering a more specialist facial range and an now promoting my Bio Sulpture Gel services and spray tans and wondered whether to make a simple news letter to send to both my existing and the hairdressing clients on the new treatments I will be doing soon/spring specials etc.

I wont do the newsletter until I know what skin care range I shall be going with which will be in the next 3 weeks approx.

Have any of you done a newsletter promoting new products/services/treatments? How did it work?

What do you think of the idea in principle?

I think its a great idea - definitely do this.

One it reminds the client that you are still there!
2 it shows them your new servicves/products and also How nice is it, to receive something other than a bill through the post?

Good Luck with it!

Hi sounds like a fab idea. it also show that you know what your talking about. also some clients don't want to ask too many questions but if there is all they need to know about the product in a news letter thats fab. good idea hun x x x:)

Sounds like a great idea to me:green:

You could also do a 'product of the month' section to boost retail sales.

That is one of my plans Juliette as well as a treatment of the month! Price wont be lower but will just be promoted more!

Any more ideas on what could ge in there - keep them coming geeks!

When I was planning my newsletter - I wanted to make it interesting as possible.

My first section was going to be 'your problems solved' and write a little section on popular questions your asked e.g Dear......, Im going in holiday and worried about looking too pale - shall I book some sunbeds? then your answer could be a little on the benefits of spray tanning.

My next section was new products or focus on an existing one and a little info on it.

The next section was going to be on 'meet the staff'

The next part was a step by step treatment and results (nothing sells like results)

The next part was a competition - to make sure the client had read this through.

You want to give as much info as possible. I wanted mine to look like a magazine page with lots of pics to make the reader find out much more than if she was in the salon, it less hard selling than face to face!!

Unfortunately I didnt get to print out my first newsletter as I gave my salon up but enjoyed the planning of it.

Sounds like a good plan - shame you didnt get to know how successful it was.

Anyvody ele tried it?

i used to write the newsletters for the salon i worked in. On the first one i introduced all the staff and gave a bit of back ground on us all. As the salon boasted highly qualified/experienced staff we felt this appropriate.its also a friendly welcome.
The newsletter always started out with the mission statement,an introduction (normally something specific to the season), and other articles would be product/treatment of the quarter, special offers/incentives, FAQs etc. This was then sent to the printers for a professional image, they always looked really classy, something you would want to read. This obviously upped the outlay, but it paid dividends . you could get a local leaflet distribution company to deliver them to potential customers too, with a first offer on them.
Goodluck, i advise a quarterly newsletter, sent out a 3/4 weeks before major events (xmas, easter etc) too early and people forget.HTHs:)

Ok Well I spent ages typing out a reply to this and then deleted it by mistake

Anyway I have always done newsletters for my clients and this is a great way to keep them informed re new products , services , special offers ect Also I use this a gentle way of informing of any price increases :) plus a Hatched , Matched and Despatched section where I congratulate my customers . It is nice for client 'A' who met client 'B' at their last appointment to find out the news of her baby ( for example)

I try and make it a little humorous and quirky. My clients ( most of who have been coming to me for 6+ years ) look forward to getting this and are really happy if they see their name in print !!!!!. A few years back one of my customers said she wish she had done something to get her name in there so the next newsletter I just put a note in saying something like ' I would also like to mention 'VAl' from Towceter just because she wanted me too '. It made many of my ladies chuckle and that was the point .

If any of you would like a copy of my latest newsletter then PM me and I will let you have one to give you an idea .There was a thread a while back of how to let your customers know your prices are to be increased and were afraid to do this . Well the Newsletter is the perfect way

Hi

Someone gave me a rep point and asked for a copy of my newsletter . Unfortunately they did not leave their name so I don't know who to send it to .

Please PM me if you know who you are

Great idea, its been working for us and alot of other companies also.

I have the template in place & just alter to the season & promo of the month.
Easier than mail outs doing it by email as much as possible.

Can't fault it :wink2:

I've been thinking about e-newsletters. I think it would be so much easierthan having to mail, and cheaper too.

yes and in most cases, you can then write off your internet cost for business. ;)

e-newsletters are a fantastic way to share your news and special offers each month with your clients, they will look forward to it arriving especially if you keep them up to date with latest treatments you offer or the latest "fashionable treatment" celebs are having etc.

Make sure you offer them the chance to unsubscribe should they want to and that you "blind copy" people in so you are not sending everyones personal email address to everyone on your list!
