Hi all,

I really need your advice, I work from home but there is a salon near me which has been there for years. any way the owner has sold the business so she can go overseas. The salon rents out its cubicles/rooms to various therapits.

The front of the salon is the reception/nail area and the owner has called me up to ask me if I would like to rent this space.....

I know most of you are not familiar with south african currancy but they want R2000 rent - it not very big so I personly feel R2000 is alot for it. Hours would be up to me.

OR they said I could have it rent free if I am willing to anwer the phone and take bookings for the other therapits but then I have to be there from open to close. Ovisouly I like this option - rent free - BUT feel anwsering the phone and taking booking while working is rude to my client.

I want this space so I could put a tech there but as I have never worked at a salon or employed anyone I need help....

Does this make sense..

Put a tech there to do the nails - comission only on the work they do - I will supply all the products needed aswell as retail and give the tech com on sales of retail aswell... then mom has offered to anwer the phone and take bookings and keep an eye on everything - for free!
this way I could get the space rent free, but does this plan sound ok and how much com do I give? Or do you have any other advice?

sounds like you have a very generous mum.
surely she will get fed up being there full time and getting no pay ?

i think around 60% commision is the going rate if you supply all products.

thank you. so 60% if I supply the products? what do I give if they sell retail items?
