Salon System lash lift

Hi, I’ve recently trained in salon system lash lift, on my training they strongly recommended applying a very thin line of perm solution and setting solution but on every YouTube clip I’ve watched they seem to use a thick layer, wondering if I’m using enough product? And would I get a better lift if I did? Many thanks in advance
