hi girls,

Im having a little problem thats alwaysss bothering me :irked: I cant save to save my life lol
Every time i try i end up dipping my paws into it and it annoys me. Theres things i really need to save for such as my courses, the equiptment for my courses, a new phone i want... and all that adds upto over 500 hundred

Does anyone have any tips or little secrets they can share on how they actualy save? Sounds like a really silly question but its bothering me now

thanks xx

yeah dont buy anything.......

when im saving money i stay in!! if i go out im only tempted to buy things and normally end up doing so. i definately can't just window shop lol x

put your money into something that you cant get into....and just save for 1 thing at a time.

thing is these days we all want everything now, years ago people had to wait and save for things but with that nasty "credit" word people don't have to and thats when the trouble starts. Please DON'T resort to credit.

You get such a kick out of saving a bit each week and watching it growing knowing that you can spend it on what you want without feeling guilty....now repeat after me ... I MUST TRY HARDER !!...

once ive saved and got what i want i feel guilty spending for ages after!!
im terrible, i buy stuff and then take it back cos i feel so guilty.

i find nights out cost me a lot of money too - do u go out often - u could cut down your nights out?? maybe one a month say?
the money you save can go to your course.

stay away from sale shopping too - it is still spending even if it is at a reduced price!! (another of my downfalls) xx

:lol:I MUST TRYYYY HARDER
This is what i shall do if i put my hands into savings :smack:
I cant window shop either problem is though i can go without going shopping the reasons why i cant save is beause
1.i dont really earn much
2. i smoke
3.i eat lunch out too much
4. i like to live the high life and dont like going without

As from tommorow i shall go with bagpuss and put it somewhere deep and dark where i cant get to it....Lets hope i can find it when i need to buy my course

No i dont go out as i have a partner and spend most my time with him we ocassionaly have a night at the cinema but not often.
I blame River island
I can easy stay away from shopping i just spend my money on junk and everyday living

I use to live on the bread line and money was sooo tight.....i hated seeing family and friends go out with new shoes and cars.....but i just could not afford to do it....

Found out alot of them were using credit and are now in ALOT of debt.....i am not....when i want something i save for it......i do save every week even if its £10.......i have a tin in my wardrobe that i put the money in......

I NEVER go window shopping it bores me.....me and hubs are stopping smoking soon so that money will go in my tin.......we dont go out alot and if we do we dont go mad.......and we still have a good time....

I think everyone should save for a rainy day because you never know whats round the corner.....angie is right, when you save you feel soo proud of yourself you want to save more and more ........just dont become tight !!!....a happy medium is needed....good luck xx

Just ask yourself the next time you go to buy something....."what would happen if i didn't buy that ?"...would the earth stop moving....would anyone notice i didn't have it or even that i did....would it make me any happier than i already am.....would i stop breathing....????

If you don't NEED it (which 99% of the time we never do) then you don't have to have it.

now..just one more time..."I MUST TRY HARDER"...

River island is alot of money......sell some stuff that you dont need aswell....do a carboot, go into the charity shops and look for stuff......you will be surprised

Surely smoking must cost a fortune these days?!
I find that by going food shopping only once a week I save a lot of money. Discover your local charity shops - my husband's entire work wardrobe comprises charity shop bargains. We're talking YSL shirts for £3.50, genuine Chinos for £4.25, M & S tailoring the same. All of these were new with the tags still on!

Yes smoking costs a fortune....thats why i cant wait to save the money we spend on those horrible sticks xx

Smoking does cost a fortune, but the problem is when you stop, you dont seem to "see" that extra money, in fact you wonder where you ever found the money to smoke!

I'm crap at saving, so I opened an account with my local Credit Union (most local authorities have one). You have to actually go down to the council offices to take any money out, but you can pay into it by standing order. Once they're shut for the weekend (which is my prime spending time) you cant get your mitts on it at all! I find that by paying into this account where I cant get hold of it I manage to save a lot better. Do you think perhaps a similar thing might work for you?

sorry I can't help you I spend mine before I have it:rolleyes: I am the worlds worst for saving:irked:

I convince myself I am skint, and send myself into a panic thinking I am gonna be struggling if I dip in. Also I have no card or anything for my saving's account so to dip in I'd have to go into the bank, which I can never be bothered to do!!

Can you not give an amount to a family member each week and tell them not to let you have one penny of it as you have to save x amount for ????? purpose and to only let you have it when you have reached the x amount,
then use it for the purpose intended,
i have to do this for someone some times and i never give in until they have reached their x amount ( she hates me during the saving time but loves me when she has reached her goal) hth

Im not too sure never really tried anything like this before. But the thought of it scares me a little lol, for the fact if i really am skint and dont have a penny i wont be able to get to it, I think perhaps i should have a savings tin or something as when i see the cash going up ill get all exited and not want to take any out :) ill give that a try as from today

This is just from personal experience.

If you dont have enough money coming in from the start, it would not be realistic to save a large amount of money on a weekly/monthly basis. Money has to come from somewhere, right?

Best thing to do is not try harder, but work harder at it. Look around your house, if there are things you dont want or wont use again, sell them if they are in good condition. Thats extra money you can save.....
If you do 5 sets of nails per week, try to do 6, thats extra money to save. Or do you do beauty treatments?

Goodluck, work hard and sensibly and you will get what you want. I'm sure thats what Richard Branson and others did...

Its only you that can do it for yourself. XXX:hug:

Start by just saving all your £2 coins. You dont miss them, honest.

Spend a little - save a little.

For every £10 - spend £8 - save £2. Thats the only way.

The first time you save - is a bit like going on a diet - you dont see any results till a few weeks down the line.

I have nearly paid my debt off and I will never get into that situation again.

There is such thing as good debt (credit is fine if you pay it off at the end of the month).

I really reccomend this site - its form the guru that is Martin Lewis.
