Aloe vera, either from the plant or buy a pure gel from a health shop
Or Bio oil. Both work well.

Thanks for the advice! I was drinking this oil stuff but it was so disgusting and was not lightening the scars

I was told by my Plastic Surgeon to use silicone gel on my scars.
3yrs later.. they're gone unless you're really looking for them.
Don't know if it applies to your condition, but could try.
Mind you, it's pricey stuff, at 30$ for a tiny tube.
Also advised to me was the use of pure emu oil

Thanks for your reply

Where can I find this silicone gel? My arms are pretty bad...its most noticeable on my arms....I use to have them on my legs( no scar now)
I use to have eczema so bad when I was in my teens Id scratch all day and just cover the arms. BAD IDEA. Now I have scars...My husband says they dont look bad(my arms that is) But I really feel like they do....The emu oil is that the same stuff as Sussie was talking about?

Hi,

May I suggest trying Vitamin E either in the form of an oil or cream, or if the affected area is not too large then by breaking open Vitamin E supplements and rubbing the contents onto the scars. This was recommended to me by a pharmacist after major abdominal surgery and although I have a scar (which runs from hip to hip) it is very fine and not very noticeable.

Solar oil contains vitamin e so this might work too. Hope you find something that works for you.

You should try Dry needling is also called multitripanic collagen actuation, the theory basically is that scar tissue is the rapid repair of the skin as a defense mechanism to protect the body, if you irritate the scar tissue, it will break down and release tight scarring. When done on smaller scars it has been said that it can irritate the surrounding skin cells and cause some regeneration of the skin cells that slowly take the place of the scar.

Centella Asiatica Gel Is Great For Healing

Also Good For Stretch Marks Too

I used a product called Cica Gel on my scar (badly broken wrist) and it made it less noticeable. It's from the pharmacist and cost about £30 for a piece about 6" X 4". I cut a piece of the gel to fit the scar and then taped it on at night. It felt a bit like a piece of 'raw' jelly, but did the trick :).

I swear by bio oil... i had a bust reduction about 3yr ago and i use bio oil on the scars and the are hardly noticeable now! I had a scar on my wrist off burning it when i was taking something out the oven and that has totally gone! x

Does anyone know if these oils would work on scars that peopel have had for years and that are white?

Yes bio oil will work on old scars as well as new and you rub it into the skin not drink it:lol:
The same for the aloe vera gel apply to the scar or burn direct or mix it in with your fav moisturizers.
You can buy aloe drinks and just a cap full a day is very good for you, if you find you don't like the taste then pour a cap full into a half pint of water or into your fruit juice and that way you won't taste it.
Personally I do like it.
But please don't bother with certain companies that will charge a fortune for it, just go to your health food shop, so long as it carries the aloe vera council logo its pure and of a good standard:lol:

I have a few stretch marks off when i was younger and it has worked on them. xx

Bio Oil...you juist can't get better than this stuff....my 12 month old ceasarean scar is practically gone, my daughters 6 month old scar from major abdominal surgery (they literally cut her from side to side) is practically unnoticeable, and considering she was born at 9lb 11.5 ozs, i should have had stretch marks from head to toe, but thanks to my wonderful hubby massaging my huge belly every day - I have not one stretch mark!

The stuff is no less than miraculous...and yes it works very well on old scars too. My friend was so impressed by my ceasarean scar she tried it on hers from 11 years ago and has had similar results.

Fabulous - must get some then

All kinds of them on the market, and likely at the pharmacy too:

(I'm sure if you google, you can find it in the uk too. The first link is a study supporting the use of silicone gel. My sister also had to use it in conjunction with a silicone pad against her skin from an attack by a bull mastif/Great dane mix. Her scar is now gone)
