Sharpen Scissors

How quick was the turnaround? Did you try the 3 day service? Mine are desperate (only 2 years old, Joewells, but work mega hard!) but I need them back asap!

I sent on Monday and got back on Thursday so 3 days as they said and they were like almost new

Hmm I wondered about that too ! but wouldn't mind if they were a good sharpening company ?
I thought Joewell had free sharpening for their scissors ? I know Jaguar has this service I just gave them back to salons direct and they sent them back to the Jaguar manufactures and mine came back fab , I use Joewell too , and I love them
but they are still pretty sharp just yet .... :) x minky

Doh! Silly billy me! :o I did remember after reading the post though that Joewells do their own. Mine got dropped so they need a rebalance.

Hi i work in a salon in scottish highlands and needed my scissors sharpened quickly as i had dropped them. They did a great job so i thought it would be nice to congratulate them online as i always like it when my clients recommend me to others. My friend goes to college in Dundee and yoi scissors went here to sell and sharpen teachers and students so i thought they should be good.In future this looks like the place to find out these things so salon geek you have me hooked:)

Here are some useful tips for scissor care
· Wipe scissor clean after every use-
· Service your scissors at least once a year-by a reputable Sharpening Service
· Balance your scissors regularly-
To balance: Open the top blade of the scissor, keeping the bottom blade horizontal. Drop the top blade so that it fails smoothly to meet the bottom blade. If the top blade does not drop to meet the bottom blade, your screw is too tight, so close the scissors and turn the screw anti-clockwise and repeat the process until it drops smoothly. If the top blade drops too suddenly, then it is too loose, so close the scissors, and turn the adjuster clockwise and repeat the process until it drops smoothly.
· Oil frequently- Whilst the blades are separated, Dab just single drop of clipper oil onto the pivot area.

· When not in use, store scissor in breathable leather sheath-

Hi, some great tips there for re balancing thank you for that :)

Hi, my first post!
Never been really staisfied after having scissors sharpened so would love to find a decent sharpner.
Just as a side note i see Buttercut posting on here. A bit of advice- i recently bought some scissors, i considered buttercut scissors as i'd seen them at shows previously so i went onto your site and got fed up of clicking on scissors only to fine 'image not available' alas i bought elsewhere. You need to sort out your website!
