How do i "scrub" the nail plate without getting the scrubfresh on the tips?... My tips are cracking and the great geeks on here tell me this is why????
How do you geeks prep for a full set?...
THANKS
Mel

I 'scrub' the nail plate before appling the tips.
Once the tips are blended (if necessary) I dust off the nails and, using a wipe folded up I scrubfresh just the natural nail again HTH

Yes a cotton bud is good. This is what I use

I was told that a cotton bud wouldn't "scrub" enough?

If you hold the cotton bud so as to get the same amount of pressure as you would using a hands down pad you should be fine iykwim

Thanks geeks
Adele, I was told that even scrubfreshing the nail before applying the tips will crack them... have you had problems with this?..

A cotton bud is a great idea.. I would think this would be more pressure as they are stiffer...
Thanks
Mel

Also how much scrubfresh do you need... i seem to use alot per client... maybe i am bathing in it!

Thanks geeks

No, I have never had a tip crack, ever. I use a menda pump to keep my scrubfresh in and one press down makes the wipe fairly wet and this does all ten nails.

By the time you have done them all, the first nail is bone dry and you can start attaching your tips.

Ok thanks... i guess pouring it out of the bottle is a little wasteful... I will get a menda pump. thanks.
Also are you using clear tips or natural tips... seems to be from reading posts it is the clear ones that crack most... just wondering what you use thats all

So am I right in saying you scrub fresh twice, before you apply the tips and after youve blended?

yes that is what i read it to be.. is that right or wrong

I use clear, white and natural

Yes, the first time is the thorough scrub of the nail plate and the second time is just in case I've touched the nail whilst blending etc

I never get cracked tips, and I scrubfresh twice. Once during prep, and once after tip applcation (natural nail only). As long as your lint free pad isnt absolutely soaked through you shouldnt have a problem with the scrubfresh coming into contact with the tip. To answer your question about scrubfres applied prior to tips still affecting the tips, scrubfresh contains acetone which evaporates pretty quickly, the only ingredient left behind on the nailplate is the pathogen fighting agents and these will not affect the tip. Just make sure you are using the right amount of scrubfresh because if you are flooding the nailplate and there is any left behind when you apply the tips, then this will cause service breakdown.

Re the cotton bud issue, I've never tried this myself. Firstly, the cotton bud isnt lint free and I dont want to leave any bits behind, and also, the point of scrubfresh is to really scrub, and this job is best done with a pad that has a bt of an abrasive quality to it like the lint free pad. When I do my secon scrubfresh I simply fold the pad in half and take care not to come into contact with the tip, again, as long as your pad isnt absolutely soaked you shouldnt have any problems:green:

Well I too use a cotton bud...
I wipe with lint free pad originally, apply tips blend, remove dust with my plush brush, then just dampen my cotton bud, and rub over the nail plates avoiding the tip,
But even if I have ever gone over slightly, I don't recall having a tip crack,
although I know its a common problem that can arise,

Lint free or not, I haven't had a problem using cotton buds, and it seems others do the same with no problems,
I don't get lifting, so I am presuming that the lint's not being left behind...
And I think the pressure applied is adequate as the nail plates have already been "scrubbed" ,
I like using cotton buds, I feel I can really get into the sidewalls
(personal preference of course!)

so you should be fine if you would like to give those a go hun.
Try it and see how you go...maybe try it on yourself, and road test your nails.

THANKS GIRLS,
once again your information is great.xxx
will try above on my nails and see how we go.....

Oh just one more question... do you scrubfresh all ten nails and then apply L&P or one hand at a time?...... Bottle says one hand but it is alot of mucking around IMO

At my last CND training she told me they now teach that the adhesive works better if you don't scrubfresh before applying tips.

I couldn't be bothered to use cotton buds and I would b concerned about fibers being oeft on the nail which can be a cause of greenies.

Just use an ordinary gauze pad DAMP with ScrubFresh and work from the tip back to the eponychium on the naturl nail only. Man this is not difficult. Takes seconds and you never touch the tips.

ok thanks geeg,
makes sense..
X Mel
