i have only just started to sculpt nails and only on friends and family. They look fine but i find when rebalancing they crack when i cut back the length. Should i not be doing this? Do i have to file the length down. Its been a good few years since my training and i can't remember covering this. Everyone had tips it seemed. Since joining salon geek im finding a there are a lot of things that we were taught that are just a complete no no. Standards are high and mine now with them, (thanks to you fellow geeks) Got a new job in a lovely salon, start in a few wks and i want to master my sculpts. They don't request me to do them. its i want to make sure i can offer the best service i can.

Just read back what i have just posted and its sounds awful on the person who did my training. I apologise its wasn't the training that lacked the standards but the salon where i worked and being inexperienced fell into the way that they worked.

I always file the length down rather than clip it because the overlay will crack under pressure either sculpted or over tips.

Hth's

i also file down, ive never clipped i imagine that puts pressure on the apex??

Thank you. I will filing down the lenght from now. It seems from reading this im definitly a little old school.
