I'm really new to doing gel nails and had a few questions. I was not really taught to scupt but I love to do it. I don't know if I am taking an unnecessary step but this is how I do it.
1-prep
2-forms
3-nail pure plus
4-primer
5-radiant pink builder to build up the nail (cure 120 sec)
6-remove form
7-brush on french whilte, extreme white, body builder white or color gel (whatever my client wants) I love the body builder white (cure 120)
8-body builder clear for apex (cure 180 sec)
9-file and shape
10-glaze and go (cure 90 sec)
DONE

My question is...Am I doing this right or can I skip #5 and just build the nail with the color of choice without having to use the radiant builder first?

Thanks
Jen

Wouldn't it be better to put on the forms after using Nail Pure?

When I use paint on white with sculpting my method is:
After the base layer and curing build the shape of the nail using pink or clear sculpting gel, cure for specified time.
Once you are happy with the shape/apex etc remove the form and file to finish (using a 180 grit).
After removing all dust apply your paint on white, cure, then use your finishing gel/glaze and go.

I'm not an NSI tech but I do use Brisa gel so some of my method might be different to what NSI recommend. Tracey is an NSI gel tech, I'll send her a quick message and ask her to look at your thread :)

Hope that helps a bit.

I'm sorry, I do add the nail pure plus first before the forms ;). I was just rushing because I couldn't wait to get the my question lol. I was wondering about not having to add a clear builder or any builder to build the nail to cut down time a bit. When I watch the NSI video that I got with my kit when I started my course, it showed them adding the sculpting gel first without having to build up the nail first. I tried using the sculpting gel but I find it is like working with toothpaste and I can't work with it. I just discorvered that I LOVE the body builder white and I can finally finish a whole hand without having to flash cure every finger. Is adding the clear builder to build up the nail first used to make the nail stronger or can it be skipped all together (even when using a color gel)?

hi and welcome to salongeek :)
if i was to sculpt i would
prep inc nail pure plus
apply forms
apply a thin bonder layer over nail and form
apply my choice of builder or body builder gel and build apex etc..
cure for 2 mins
wipe tacky layer and remove forms
file to shape
apply brush on white and cure
apply a clear gel just to fill in the 'step' from the applying the white
cure and a quick file to make sure theres no bumps
use cleanse to remove dust and apply glaze n go.this would be the way i would do it because most of the time i use a cover pink and therefore need to build the nail first as i cant go over the white with it.there are many different ways sometimes i may do it the same way as you it depends on whats best for me and client.
there is no right or wrong way just experiment and see what gives you the best results.
hope this helps and please ask if you have anymore questions.x
