I had an email today off a lady suffering from alopecia totalis and wanting lash extensions, i havent seen her yet so will know more at the consultation, just wondered if anyone had a client with this and provides any eyelash services.
Also if I cannot help her should i still charge for the consultation, its still my time and travelling, i just hope there is something i can do to help her.

does anyone have clients for this service suffering from alopecia? what are your experiences eg in them lasting as long etc.

thank you

pmsl, behave yourself you loon,

Kelly she will probably have no lashes at all with this condition so you wont be able to fit them,
we can not extend what is not there,
you are right you do need to charge her for the consultation due to time and travel but you also need to make her aware that she would be expected to pay,
i would give her a call back and explain that if she has no lashes you can not perform this treatment,
the only thing you can do for her is fit some strip lashes and teach her how to fit them for herself, you can still charge for this service, hth

Are you bored today Carl??? LOL...

it's almost 2am here and i'm delerious (not drunk) YET

Sometimes I do say things just for fun because I don't have a solution, this is a fine example to lighten quite a dire situation (I hope it isn't taken in bad taste).

I hadn't shaved for 2 weeks last week and a client asked me if I was growing a beard (she's quite a smart ass), So I said "No, are you growing a wig"? That kinda playful stuff.

It's actually Movember here, and all us fellas grow a moe in November for charity. Me not shaving made perfect sense, but to the uncharitable it brings out unnecessary questions.. So I gave her both barrels.

Thanks louise I thought that was the case, i will take some strip lashes to the consultation and maybe it will turn out she learns to do them then, i have a client that pulls her lashes out and couldnt apply any last time i went because there were very few lashes left on her eyes so she is now wearing strips while her lashes grow back too.

I didnt think there was much i could do for this lady but she seemed so desperate i thought maybe she has very sparse light lashes we could poss tint.

I hte saying no and not being able to help someone especially someone who seemed so nice.

Thanks again

haha Nailzoo i will suggest the staple gun but i dont think she will go for it, it might hurt :) x

You can tint them if she has any,
it will make them more noticeable but i would let her decide if she wants more noticeable as if she has any at all they will be very few so they may be more noticeable in a bad way, hth

we have the same dilemma with chemotherapy patients, we so desperately want to help them feel better about themselves but cant do much until 6 months after their course of treatment has finished, then we have to be careful and do it in stages for them before they can wear the really full on lashes,
i have had this dilemma this week and it is heart breaking to have to say no not just yet

Thats what i hate most i just want to help people if i can

well i have offered a consultation anyway so we can see what happens by the sounds of it though it looks like possibly strip lashes only as she has had alopecia for 11 yrs and for the past 3 her lashes have been affected, at least i may be able to help with the strip lashes though. Thanks again louise x

Not a problem Kelly,
if you are unsure of anything when you do your consult give me a call and i will help where i can
