Hi all, this is my first post on forum and am asking probably basic question that may have been covered before but please bare with me as all advice gratefully taken...

I have converted a large summerhouse at the back of my mothers property into a small studio. I will be offering nails, waxing, spraytans...etc all treatments I am qualified to do. I have BABTAC Insurance. I am about to register self employed.

So my question is... Who else do I need to notify that I will be running a small business from there so that I am all above board and how is it best to insure a home salon, through the existing home insurance or seperately and if so any recommendations of companies for that?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice given.

Hi Pen, The first people you should have called is your local council to request their permission to trade from your property. If you haven't already, you need to call them asap;)

When I started working from home, my mortgage company wanted to know, I informed council but they werent bothered, just registered it on my address that a business was being run from it. and insurance... I notified my home insurance and took out a business one too.
