I would like to set up my own salon in 2 years, I have wanted this since I can remember, and have always been business minded.

Im finishing my level 3 now, and going on to London College of Fashion for a Beauty Foundation Degree.

I have started my business plan now (im very organised) but not sure what things to think about or include like prices, equipment, products also retail products.

I know where I would like my salon, how many rooms and treatments.

Just a bit confused, and my family will be investing in me thats why im planning early so i can prove to them that i really want this.

If you could help I would appreciate it
Thanks

How long is a piece of string? salons come in all shapes and sizes, until you have decided on premesis, a business plan is irrelevent. Two years is a long time in a fairly fast paced industry. prices will be different, wages will be different and none of us know where the wider economy is heading.
My best advice as someone who has done all this, is to train, qualify, and work in salons to gain lots of invaluable experience first. I truly don't beleive that salon ownership is easy for the inexperienced however business minded you are.

I couldn't agree more. Thats what i did and i've seen many people do it straight from college and fail because they haven't had the salon experience

Ive Been In The Beauty Industry Since I Was 13, Working Saturday Jobs And Full Time. Its Just I Dont Understand How To Buy A Shop I Guess Or If You Need Special Liscenses To Modify, Things Like This

Hi Tilly,

You will need a solicitor's advice and services to buy a shop and, if your inexperienced in running a business, an accountant to help you with HMRC and general accounting.

A useful and free first step is to go to your bank and ask to talk to a business advisor:)

Oh Brilliant..

Thank You
